Task 3. Look through the given dialogue and make up a dialogue about your personality and appearance.
Natali: Ok, Leslie. So, what can you say about yourself?
Leslie: About my appearance or character?
Natali: Let’s start with your appearance. What could you say about your outer look?
Leslie: I’m rather tall and thin. People say that I’m slim and attractive. I’ve got long dark straight hair, light complexion and big brown eyes. I guess that’s it.
Natali: Ok. And, how would you describe your personality? Are you extroverted or introverted?
Leslie: Should I decribe myself the way I see it or how others see me?
Natali: You can describe your personal traits from both angles.
Leslie: I think that I’m a mixture of introvert and extrovert. I see my self as an introvert, my friends think that I’m an extrovert. I like socializing, going to parties, meeting new people. At the same time, I like being alone. My friends think I’m an easy-going and friendly person. I think I’m sometimes difficult to be around, because I’m a rather independent person.
Natali: I see. How about some other characteristics? How esle could you describe yourself?
Leslie: I think I’m a reliable and responsible person. I’m almost never late. If I promise somthing I try to keep my promises. Some of friends trust me to babysit their little children which is a good sign.
Natali: What other positive traits do you have?
Leslie: I have a good sense of humour and I can sometimes make my friends laugh. I’m also a a good interlocutor. People can talk to me about different topics.
Natali: Do you remember any cases when you were surprised with yourself?
Leslie: There were many cases like that. I’m often surprised on how I handle difficult situations. At first I look as a weak and gutless person but when I’m trapped into a difficult situation, I demonstrate strength and courage.
Natali: Do you have any demerits? If yes, could you please list them?
Leslie: I think all humans have some good and bad traits and I’m no exception. I can be impatient sometimes. I get very excited at first but it’s very hard for me to finish things that I start. I also have high expectations. I sometimes expect too much from other people and I want them to be perfect, which is impossible, of course.
Natali: I see. It’s good that you realize that. How do you try to improve your demerits?
Leslie: I just remind myself about them from time to time and try to finish what I’ve started. I also try to judge people less strictly.
Natali: I see. Do you share your problems with your friends or close relatives?
Leslie: I think so. It’s good to have people, who can listen to your problems and give you advice.
Natali: Do you remeber yourself when a child? If yes, what kind of a child were you?
Leslie: Yes, I clearly do. I was a rather independent child. I liked doing everything by myself. I was also a bit naughty, which is normal for little children, I think. I was a curious child. I wanted to know everyone and everything around me. By some reason, I liked befriending children, who were a bit older than me.
Natali: Have you changed a lot since your childhood?
Leslie: In some ways, yes. I became more disciplined. Not all of my friends are older than me, some are much younger. What remained the same is my desire for independence
