Task 2. Match questions 1-4 with an answer from Pete and an answer from Debbie. Who has got definite future plans? Who hasn’t?
What are you doing this evening? Are you doing anything interesting this weekend? Are you going to have a party for your birthday? Where are you going on holiday? Pete: Of course, I’m going to invite all my friends. I’m going surfing for two weeks in Costa Rico. Yes, I’m. I’m going to stay with an old school friend. I’m meeting my brother for a drink. Debbie: I haven’t thought about it. Maybe I’ll just celebrate at home with a few friends. I can’t decide. Perhaps I’ll go cycling in France. No, I’m not. I’ll give you a ring and maybe we can do something together. Nothing much. I think I’ll just watch a DVD and order a pizza. Task 3. Speak about your future career and give reasons for choosing this job. _____________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Task 1. Prepare a PPT presentation about TUIT and its branches. You can use either the given material or use additional sources. Education is an important part of the life. People go to schools and universities, attend different courses and workshops. Many people think that the most eventful and interesting period of life is studying at school and at university. TUIT (formerly Tashkent Electro Technical Institute of Communications) was established in 1955. In 2002, in order to further develop the information and communication technologies, the Institute was re-established into the “University”. Nukus, Urgench, Karshi, Samarkand and Fergana branches of the TUIT have been launched since July 23, 2005 as regional branches. In 2018, with the purpose of radically improving and enhancing the efficiency of training system at TUIT, a credit education system for training personnel in the field of information and communication technologies was introduced. Currently, TUIT and its regional branches have 13 faculties, 62 departments and education and training are being held in 23 areas and specialties of education, including 9 new areas of undergraduate and 17 new specialties of masters. TUIT employs 605 teachers and professors, including 3 academicians, 35 doctors and professors, 149 candidates of sciences and associate professors. Teachers with doctoral degree make up 32.8% of total. The university established cooperation with 42 universities, 8 research centers, 12 enterprises and organizations from 26 foreign countries (South Korea, Japan, Germany, France, the USA, India, etc.) and 73 cooperation agreements and a memorandum of understanding were signed on mutual understanding. Every year 15 foreign professors are involved in educational process of TUIT and 50 professors and teachers of the university visit abroad to exchange experience. And also, there is a student mobility program, every year 30 students of TUIT travel abroad according to exchange programs. JICA is funding TUIT’s project in the amount of 1.6 million US dollars to create “Educational Media-Center” in Central Asia which will be designed to set up laboratory to conduct research and prctice for students in the field of television technologies. At the moment, TUIT is implementing 12 research projects funded by the European Commission under the ERASMUS program. TUIT and Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radio Electronics signed an agreement on establishment of a joint faculty and joint training of specialists with higher education. In accordance with this agreement, starting from the 2019-2020 academic year, students enrolled at TUIT to the joint faculty of TUIT-BSUIR for training in the following areas: Information Technology Software; Programmable mobile systems; Artificial Intelligence. According to the results of 2018, the State Inspectorate for Quality Supervision of Education under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan published a rating of higher educational institutions, in which TUIT takes the 4th place among 57 universities of Uzbekistan. Nowadays, the main goal of TUIT, along with other educational issues, is to include the University to Top 1000 universities in the world. In order to fulfill this goal and to provide International standards of education, TUIT has plan to obtain International Accreditation from ABET which ensures quality of education in IT sphere. To implement this ambition plan TUIT is cooperating with Kent State University within American Councils, UniCEN project. The KSU team will visit to TUIT to provide consultation on the requirements of the ‘credit hour system’ and review TUIT’s plans and progress in this effort. The objectives of the proposed workshops and subsequent discussions are: • To provide faculty members at TUIT with a framework for developing learning outcomes for students; • Assist faculty with incorporating learning outcomes into their courses within the programs seeking accreditation; • Developing assessment plans for courses and programs; • Provide support for incorporating continuous improvement methodologies into TUIT’s curricular development processes; • Provide support for navigating the change from contact hours to credit hours including syllabi development and lesson plan development; • Develop a support system and structure for TUIT faculty as they progress through the accreditation process. I agree that studying at university is full of events. At university I have found many friends and learnt new things. My university is located in a small city Fergana in Uzbekistan. Though the city is small, my university is very popular. Many scientists and professors work here. My university hasn’t a long history. The life of my university is full of different events. As I have already mentioned, many scientists work here. Different conferences, seminars and meetings are held every year. Every student can take part in them. Besides, my university cooperates with the universities of USA, England, Germany, Russia, South Korea and China. So every year professors from these universities visit my university, meet students and share experience. The Fergana branch of the Tashkent University of Information Technologies was established by Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PP-91 dated June 2, 2005. According to the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated March 26, 2013, “On measures to further improve the training system in the field of information and communication technologies” No. PP -1942, in recent years, a number of activities have been carried out to drastically improve the system of training highly qualified ICT specialists at the level of international standards. The branch has 2 faculties, 8 departments and training is conducted in 5 areas of education, including 2 new areas of undergraduate education. The Fergana branch of TUIT prepares bachelors in the following areas: • Computer Engineering (“Computer Engineering”, “Information Technology Service”, “Multimedia Technology”); • Software engineering; •Information Security; • Telecommunication Technologies (“Telecommunications”, “Broadcasting”, “Mobile Networks”); • Teacher education in information and communication technology Download 0.79 Mb.
