10.Welcome Speech / Welcome Address
Welcome address is vital in any function because it heralds the commencement of the programme or function and sets the feel of the function. A pleasing welcome speech has its effect throughout the function from the beginning till the end. In English, it differs as per the occasion demands; for example, a wedding welcome speech, a graduation welcome speech, a welcome address in a seminar / conference etc will be totally different in the phrases and terms used. Giving away a “welcome speech” and "vote of thanks" are some of the responsibilities bestowed on us if we work in an organisation.
