Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll know he’s the founder of Microsoft and has a net worth of $107 billion. We have a lot of things in common. But unfortunately, I’m not talking about having billions of dollars in my bank account. Instead, I’m referring to a mutual love of reading and learning new things. That’s why I followed Bill Gates’ daily routine. I wanted to see what would happen if I adopted the habits and mindset of a billionaire philanthropist. And unsurprisingly, I became 10x more productive. Here’s A Breakdown Of Bill Gates’ Daily Routine Catch Up On The News Bill reads The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and several other large newspapers every morning to stay informed. “I read quite a few magazines and newspapers,” wrote Bill Gates in a blog post. “I tend to read the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal online, but I read the Economist almost entirely offline. I read Slate quite a bit, too. Slate is good because if you go there, you always find three or four things that are very interesting.” Read Lots Of Books “I try to read every day, whether I have a busy day at the office or am out for a hike,” said Bill Gates. “It’s one of my favorite ways to learn new things and better understand the world.” “You don’t really start getting old until you stop learning,” said Bill Gates. “Every book teaches me something new or helps me see things differently. I was lucky to have parents who encouraged me to read. Reading fuels a sense of curiosity about the world, which I think helped drive me forward in my career and in the work that I do now with my foundation.” Find A Career That Makes You Smile 8/2/23, 10:11 PM The Daily Routine Of Bill Gates (Updated 2023) | Mind Cafe https://medium.com/mind-cafe/i-followed-bill-gates-daily-routine-and-became-10x-more-productive-d51869ea69c6 3/13 “You’ve got to enjoy what you do every day,” said Bill Gates. “For me, that’s working with very smart people. It’s working on new problems. … The competition, the breakthroughs, the research make the field I’m in, I think, the most exciting field there is.” Spend Time With Loved Ones Bill Gates spends a lot of time with friends and family. “You will move in the direction of the people you associate with,” he wrote in a blog post. “Make some good friends, keep them for the rest of your life, but have them be people that you admire (as well as like).” Prioritize A Good Night’s Sleep Bill Gates needs approximately seven hours of sleep each night to function properly. “I like to get seven hours of sleep,” he told The Seattle Times. “Even though it’s fun to stay up all night — maybe taking a red-eye flight — if I have to be creative, I need seven hours. I can give a speech without much sleep, I can do parts of my job that way, but in thinking creatively, I’m not much good without seven hours.’’ But Bill hasn’t always prioritized a good night’s sleep. During his early days at Microsoft, Bill Gates pulled all-nighters to meet strict deadlines. “We were hardcore. If you were working on a piece of code, get it done and don’t worry about sleep,” he said in a Netflix documentary. “I knew I wasn’t as sharp when I was operating mostly on caffeine and adrenaline,” he continued. “But I was obsessed with my work, and I felt that sleeping a lot was lazy.” Download 32.47 Kb.
