Have you ever wondered ________it would be like to ________completely? To choose not to have access to the ________? If you have, you may be in ________of a digital detox – a total switch-off ________all things ________. The idea of people taking a digital ________is becoming more and ________popular, especially amongst ________people – and today we’re ________by someone who’s tried a ________of digital detox activi________ties and is here to give us ________advice about it. ________Vince, welcome to the ________. Amanda: Thank ________very much. Presenter: So, Amanda, you work for a ________magazine in London, right? I ________your work means you need to be ________a lot. Amanda: Oh, yes. Apart ________the hundreds of emails I get every day, I’m ________browsing fashion websites, as well as online ________. I also need to be very active ________, especially on Twitter and Instagram – sharing what we’re ________in the ________, interacting with designers, photographers, influencers … it ________stops, literally. Then of course there’s my friends and family to ________in touch with ________too, and for me, my work grew out of my ________, so friends and work colleagues aren’t two totally ________groups of people and it all gets a bit ________online sometimes. I ________I’m online for at ________12 hours a day. Presenter: So, how did you get the idea for a digital detox? Amanda: I read a book ________it, called Log Off: ________to Stay ________after ________. The author’s name is Blake Snow. That ________gave me some ________good advice and ________me think about trying to change some of my ________habits. I started with ________distraction. Presenter: What do you mean by that? Amanda: That means ________off alerts, buzzes, alarms or ________of any kind. I had notifications set up for ________, and it meant I was ________being forced to look at my phone. Removing all of them except for ________contacts helped me focus ________. The book also made a really good point, that we should ask ________ ‘Why?’ every time we take out our phone. I realised that ________of the times I looked at my phone were ________I was trying to avoid or ________something else happening right in front of me. It ________an automatic ________. Presenter: I have to confess, that happens to ________too. But what else ________you going to do when you’re ________in line at the bank or ________for your train? Amanda: OK, yes, I’m the first to ________that it’s great for helping time go by. But speaking personally, I found I ________just checking my phone to kill ________when I was alone. I ________also doing it with friends or family ________. Presenter: Hmmm … right. Well, so far, this ________sound too drastic. ________off notifications and becoming aware of when ________use our ________. That sounds easy. Amanda: Yes, it’s the ________step. Once we ________to realise just how much of a ________our devices have on us, then ________ready to really take the ________step. First, my partner and I did a ________with ________no screens.
