Task 3.
A network is two or more computers joined together to allow communication.
A network over a small geographical area is known as a LAN and a network over a larger geographical area is known as a WAN. The internet is the largest network in the world.
There are different topologies for Local areas networks that are joined with wires or cables. This includes bus, star and mesh.
A server is a computer that manages and stores files, and provides services to the other computers on the network. They need to be quite powerful machines with a lot of processing power.
To connect to a network you require a Network interface card (NIC) which allocates an IP address to your device so it can be located on the network.
