Airport Noise Management Office The Annual Noise Report is a publication that provides updated data and a summary of the activities of the Airport Noise Management System. A N N U AL R E P O R T Y E AR 2 0 1 3 There were 508 noise complaints received from 19 different callers in 13 different communities for Year 2013, a decrease of 30.4% from the 730 complaints made in Year 2012. In 2013, one caller from St. Peters made 389 complaints (76.6% of all calls), one caller from the City of St. Louis made 53 calls (10.4% of all calls), one caller from Bridgeton and one caller from Pasadena Park made 17 complaints each (3.4% each of all calls), and the remaining 15 callers made 32 complaints (6.3% of all calls). There were 112 (22%) calls made during the night time period of 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. and 396 (78%) calls made during the day time period of 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Eighty nine percent of the operations were during the day time hours and 11 percent during the night time period. P a ge 2 N O I S E M O N I T O R I N G D A T A The Annual Average DNL values for the years 2011 to 2013 for the eight permanent noise monitors are shown in the chart below. One permanent noise monitor had the same value as Year 2012. Four monitors had a decrease in DNL levels ranging from -0.2 to –4.4 for this period. Three monitors had an increase in DNL levels ranging from 0.2 to 0.3 DNL. An increase/decrease of 3 DNL represents a doubling/halving of the noise energy. All noise levels shown are measured in DNL (Day-Night Level). DNL represents noise exposure events averaged over a given time period. To account for human sensitivity to noise between the hours of 10 p.m. and 7 a.m., noise events occurring during these hours receive a “penalty” when the DNL is calculated. Each nighttime event is measured as if ten daytime events occurred.

P a ge 4 There were 188,471 operations recorded in Year 2013 compared to 190,715 operations in Year 2012, a decrease of 1.2%. Southwest Airlines is the predominate air carrier with 32.9% of all operations, followed by Cape Air (9.8%), and American (9.4%). The most utilized aircraft was the Boeing 737-700 (21.6%), Boeing 737-300 (10.4%), and the Cessna 402 Utiliner (10.1%) of all aircraft type at the airport. The distribution of traffic for Year 2013 was 45.5% eastbound and 54.5% westbound departures.
