Children are enlarging their ability
to be aware of body language, their own
and others’. They are learning to be attentive to social cues.
They are also learning that you can pay attention and still be silly and
giggle with others.
Junk Box Art
This project may not appeal to everyone, but it’s perfect for the “pack rats”
among us who tend to collect bits and pieces of random stuff. If you or your
child is drawn to collecting intriguing shells, odd buttons, colorful fabric
swatches, occasional buckles, interesting pebbles, bits of colored yarn, pretty
pipe cleaners, and broken jewelry too lovely to throw away, you can use all
these things as fabulous art material.
Making something out of a lot of different nothings is a lovely way to
spend a pleasant rainy day.
