BEN FRANKLIN 18TH CENTURY SUPERHERO - Benjamin Franklin was born in Boston in America on 17th January 1706. He was the humble son of a tallow chandler (a soap and candle maker). Who would have guessed that he would go on to do so many amazing things after just 2 years of going to school?!
BEN FRANKLIN 18TH CENTURY SUPERHERO - Ben worked for his older brother James as an apprentice printer. He helped James to publish his newspaper, ‘The New England Courant’, which was one of the first newspapers in the American colonies.
- Ben later moved to Philadelphia and printed his own newspaper, ‘The Pennsylvania Gazette’. Newspapers were the only way people could find out about what was happening in their town and others.
