Glass vials and reagents for urine collection. A plastic collection container is available
with test kits that require separate urine collection. They may also contain plastic vials with
pre-measured amounts of reagents that must be mixed with urine before application to the
test strip [5].
Production process
Forming a non-woven fiber tape or pad. Immunoassay strips used in home pregnancy
tests are manufactured by pharmaceutical supply companies. They are made by squeezing
non-woven fibers into a narrow strip and coating them with reactive antibodies. These strips
are made from fibers such as rayon polyester blends that can be made into mechanical or
thermal pads. This type of non-woven fabric pad seems to be used in disposable diapers
and other applications that require a highly absorbent material. The non-woven pad can be
coated with latex first, then treated with liquid analysis agents. Four different antibodies can
be coated on the tape in three different zones [6, 9, 10].
The reliability of the pregnancy test largely depends on compliance with the rules of
use, but in such cases the result may be falsely negative - positive:
•
the device has expired;
•
the rules for storing the device were not followed;
•
when used incorrectly;
•
the test was given too early;
•
when taking drugs containing hormones or diuretics.
