A speech therapist's in-depth knowledge of his specialty includes knowledge of programs, school textbooks, and speech therapy manuals. The personality of the speech therapist is of primary importance in order to achieve the effectiveness of the work carried out in connection with the education and upbringing of children and their impaired speech. He shows the following main qualities: interest in his profession; love of children, demanding to oneself and others; pedagogical creative imagination and observation; sincerity, humility, responsibility, firmness and consistency in words and deeds. A speech therapist should generalize best practices and conduct research on the best means of correcting children's speech.
