STATE AND PROSPECTS OF DEVELOPMENT OF TRADE AND ECONOMIC
COOPERATION BETWEEN UZBEKISTAN AND TAJIKISTAN
Mamatov Bakhodir Kuldoshovich
Institute Forecasting and Macroeconomic Research basic doctoral student, Uzbekistan.
The lack of a unified process for determining and certifying organic production
negatively affects the development of trade and economic cooperation. Organic food
(especially vegetables and fruits) is one of the high value-added products in which
Uzbekistan and Tajikistan have a clear comparative advantage.
Tajikistan exports cement to Uzbekistan. It is considered expedient, within the
framework of interregional cooperation, for manufacturers and suppliers of cement to
consider with entrepreneurs of Uzbekistan the issues of organizing joint productions in
Tashkent and Surkhandarya regions on a mutually beneficial basis (including in the form of
clusters):
- modern, demanded in the markets of reinforced concrete products;
- block wall materials;
- facing products;
- other products using exported cement and local non-metallic building materials.
Implemented and proposed transport and logistics projects
1. In order to establish regional cooperation and increase the efficiency of
transportation between countries, work is currently underway to restore the Samarkand-
Penjikent railway line (about 50 km) to ensure the transportation of coal from a coal deposit
in the Aini region of Tajikistan.
2. As promising projects, it is advisable to resume the railway section Bekabad
(Uzbekistan) - Kanibadam (Tajikistan), which will lead to unloading of cargo transportation
along the Angren-Pap high-mountain section, an increase in transportation to / from the
Fergana Valley, a decrease in the distance and cost of transit cargo following in /from
Kyrgyzstan.
