Book Project – Cereal Box Report Students Name: _______________________________________________ Due Date: ____________________________ Each student will be assigned a Book Report project to complete based on a different genre of reading. The genre focus is Mystery What is Mystery? • A story or genre that focuses on solving a crime or an unusual event. • There can be a detective, suspect(s), a lead (or red herring- false lead), evidence, a crime, witnesses, and/or clues Directions: 1. You will pick a Mystery genre book. 2. You will use a cereal box to tell me about the Mystery book you read! a. Cover your cereal box with paper and put the story’s title on the front of the box. b. Include the author’s name and your name. c. Or you might want to write and draw on appropriate-sized sheets of paper and then glue them onto the box. 3. Think about what you will name your cereal. Choose a name that sounds exciting and that relates to the story in some way. 4. Write a summary of what happens in the story. a. Use the rough draft on the back. b. It needs to be three five-sentence paragraphs. c. Include major events and characters. d. This goes on the back of your cereal box. 5. Include the main characters and setting on the sides of the box. 6. Add “catchy phrases” about the book all over to get people’s attention & to make them want to read the book. You are advertising this book! Sell it! 7. Add magazine clippings, drawings, printouts from the Internet, or anything else to help us understand your mystery. 8. Decorate it. Be creative!!!
