Butterflies in my stomach...
It's a feeling caused by anxiety as we contemplate or await an event about to happen.
A guy names Bill Gardener used the phrase describing his first parachute training jump as a paratrooper (1943). Each time he was going up... he felt those butterflies in his stomach.
They are actually light stomach spasms caused by a slight reduction in blood flow from anxiety. A kind of reaction to the anticipation, often without facts or logical sense.
I have learned to consider a 'butterflies in my stomach feeling to be a warning. I heighten my awareness and relax in preparation for an experience.
