Red blood cells carry oxygen to all the cells of the body
White blood cells are the second solid part of the blood Platelets are the third solid part of blood There are four cavities, or hollow chambers, in the heart. Each upper chamber of the heart is called an artrium Each lower chamber of the heart is called a ventricle An artery is a thick-walled blood vessel that carries blood away from the heart A vein is a blood vessel that carries blood back to the heart from the body cells A capillary is a tiny blood vessel that connects an artery and a vein The respiratory system is another transport system of the body When a person breathes in, air enters the nose. From the nose the air travels to the throat. The air then enters a soft tube with rings of cartilage around it. This tube is the windpipe, or trachea. The voice box, or larynx The trachea divides into two tubes. These tubes are called the bronchial tubes The diaphragm is a thick sheet of muscle at the bottom of the chest cavity. It moves down when a person breathes in. This movement spreads the ribs and allows the lungs to expand. This process is called inhaling. When a person breathes out, the diaphragm moves up and the ribs come together. This movement pushes air out the lungs. This process is called exhaling Bronchitis is another respiratory disease The excretory system is the transport system that removes waste products from the body The water and wastes leave the body as urine Download 36.5 Kb.
