Beaujolais Appellation Village Red 100% Gamay Chénas Château des Jacques Vineyards situation Chénas belongs to the 10 Beaujolais crus. It is the smallest (260 hectares) and is located between Moulin-à-Vent and Juliénas. Characteristics Château des Jacques owns 1.5 hectares of Chénas. The soil is made of quartz (a white soil) on top of the hill. The rather thin soils directly come from the degradation of the mother rock and they are similar all the way though the Saône river where one may find more clay and sililca with a stony surface. The vineyard is about 50 years old. Wine making Grapes are sorted out, destemmed. They ferment in vats during about three to four weeks and then age in oak barrels for about a year. Winemaker's comments / Gastronomy The wine shows a nice and intense ruby colour with floral aromas. It is long lasting in the mouth with some hints of spices. Preservation This wine can be kept easily 10 years if the conditions of humidity and temperature are respected.
