There are many people who plan activities for all of their free time. Others, however, never make plans. Both planning activities and not planning anything can have the advantages. In this essay, I am going to explain the advantages of each side and why I think it is better to make plans ahead of time for leisure activities.
Planning activities can be beneficial for many reasons. Most importantly, the person knows what he will do that day. For some people that is necessary so that can relax and enjoy themselves. Every minute of their free time is planned out and they like it that way. People who like to plan do not want to be sitting at home on a Friday night without somewhere to go. One advantage to planning is that you can let others know what you are doing. If you ask a friend to go out later in the week, they have time to make sure they are not busy on that date. If you wait until the last minute to ask people to go with you, they might be busy. When you plan ahead of time, it gives you time to find someone to keep you a company as well as giving others time to clear their schedules. Another advantage to planning ahead is that you can avoid having to events occur on the same night or at least have time to make a decision about which thing to do.
People who do not schedule things could forget about important things or get into a situation where they told two different people that day would be in two different places at the same time. This could be disastrous. There are advantages to not planning one’s time also. For one does not plan his leisure time, he’s not limited to doing one thing. For example, imagine that a person who schedules all of his time agree to go to a baseball game that he did not really want to attend. That day, another friend asked him to go to a theatrical play that he’s wanted to see. It’s too late to say no to the baseball game. So, he must go to it. He limited his availability, just because he had scheduled his free time early. People who do not schedule their free time in advance can be spontaneous. They can wake up one day and decide to drive to the beach for the weekend. This can make their lives more exciting. Someone who schedules all of his time cannot do this and he can become boring. A person who does not plan his free time cannot have these plans spoilt. If a person plans in advance? that he really loves to attend, he will look for it greatly. Banning? if something happens to make him cancel his plans, he will be very disappointed. You’ll never be disappointed if you never make plans. While I believe it is not always necessary to make plans for every minute of my free time, I think it is generally good to make plans ahead of time. It is true that it can get to be stressful to make plans and follow them exactly all the time. But I like knowing what I’m going to do in the future. Scheduling my free time is the best way for me to have the best time.

Some people believe that their first impressions of a person’s nature are usually accurate and true. Others do not trust first impressions because they think that first impressions are often wrong. There are people who believe that their first impressions of a person’s character or nature are accurate and truthful. And those people tend to believe their first impressions. Other people including me, disagree with that point of view for a number of reasons. In this essay, I will discuss the reasons behind both viewpoints supporting my belief that first impressions cannot always be trusted.
First impressions cannot always be trusted. Sometimes people have bad day in which they act out of character. They may be stressed out, angry, sad or just extremely tired. All of these could make a person act differently than he would normally act. For example, a person who lost his job earlier that day might decide go to a bar and drink away his sorrows. Normally this person would not do something like that. But losing the job let him to act in this way. It is easy to see how people can act differently when they are sad. Being angry is another thing that could make someone act out of character. If a women is extremely angry of something, she may act differently toward everyone around her. She might go to work but not speak to any of her co-workers just because she needs time to come down about whatever made her angry in the first place. Sometimes a person wants to make a certain first impression for one reason or another. One time that a person might want to do this for a job interview. I have eventually done it myself. In an interview that I had for a job, I wanted to make the impression that I was outgoing. I knew that the company was going to employ employees who would easily go along with and outgoing. So, at the interview I spoke to everyone, smiled a lot and spoke up when I was asked questions. Sure enough, I was hired. However, in real life I’m shy and tend to withdraw from people. Obviously, it is easy to people to act differently than they really are. Often, if a person is uncomfortable, he is going to act differently than normal. In a situation such as a party, a shy person could very easily be uncomfortable. If someone does not like social events and is dragged to a party where he does not know anyone, he is going to be uncomfortable. Usually, the person would be friendly and fun to be around but at the party he might be unsocial able and stand by himself. This does not mean that he is always like that, it just means that he did not know what to do at a party where he only knew one friend. Now, say that the person starts to drink alcohol to come down. He suddenly becomes extremely outgoing and tries to dance with everyone. Normally who would not act like that either but the alcohol has influenced him. As I have showed it is easy for a person to give first impression that he is misleading. People sometimes act out of character whether on purpose or not. Overall, it is not safe or fair to judge a person solely based on first impressions. There are many factors that could influence someone’s behavior and it is not right to judge someone without getting to know that person better.

In some people’s opinion school should require students to do physical exercise everyday. However, others think that school is only for academic studies. What do you think? Support your opinion with specific details and reasons.

Physical exercise is important in order for people to live healthy lives. However, it should be required part of every school day. Some people think so but others disagree. Both viewpoints have valid arguments to justify them. While I discuss both sides of the issue I intend to demonstrate my opinion that student should not be required to participate in physical exercise programs every school day. Some people think that physical exercise should be required every day. They say that physical exercise is so important to a person’s well-being that schools cannot and should not ignore its importance in the lives of students. If the students had to do some sort of exercise everyday it would teach them to be healthy. And that it is important to take care of their bodies. The importance of a person’s health cannot be overemphasized. So it is necessary for students to be taught just how important physical exercise really is. Those who believe that student should be required to participate in physical exercise programs everyday might believe that these programs might provide a break from academic stress during the school day. Students could relax for a little while and rejuvenate themselves. It is true that physical exercise is a release for many people. It lets them get rid of their anger and their worries. Also everyone know that physical exercise stimulates the brain. When a person exercises blood starts flowing more freely to the brain. So people actually think better and more clearly after physical stimulation. This could help teachers and help students late in the day instead of being exhausted and bored students who are required to exercise in the middle of the day would more awake from the exercise that they did. It could be argue that this could even help students improve their grades. Other people disagree with the idea that physical exercise should be included as a part of each school day and I agree with them. School is for academics and physical exercise everyday would take away from the student’s learning. School is where the students go to learn and after school is over they could do activities that require physical exercise. What’s going to help a student more in life? Exercising in school or understanding mathematics. Everyone needs mathematics in their lives. From going to the grocery store to finding out how much carpet they are going to need for a room. In addition, many students are rowdy, wild and excited after physical exercise. Teachers should not be expected to calm down students that were outside playing for half an hour. Even if the students calm down, it does not mean that they would then pay attention to the teacher. Also thinking that the schools can make students participate in physical activity is naive. As any high school student knows if students do not want to participate in physical exercise they will not. Many students do the least amount of physical work necessary to pass physical education class. Therefore, the students who would benefit from the physical exercise are those who enjoy it already. Student should not have to do physical exercise everyday. If they have the option to exercise or to have study hall it would be alright. If students do not want to exercise they cannot be forced to. Trying to make them exercise is like trying to make them study. If they do not want to they’re not going to not matter what anyone says.

Some people prefer to spend their free time outdoors, others like to spend what leisure time they have inside. This is a personal choice and either is valid. Both have different activities that one can participate in. In this essay, I will discuss some of the things that make either option appealing and argue in favor of spending free time outdoors.
The amount of time people spend outdoors or indoors in their free time has a lot do with the season and what the weather is like. I like to spend most of my free time outdoors when the weather permits. Because I like being in nature and participating in outdoors sports. When I’m outdoors I’m active which keeps me healthy. It’s important to everyone to be in good health and being outdoors is a good way to do this. In the summer the weather is warm and the sun shines a great deal. When it is sunny and warm I play tennis with my friends and have picnics in the park with my family. When it is really hot I go to the neighborhood pool and go swimming. Another summer outdoor activity I really enjoy is gardening. It allows me to spend time in nature and put my hands in the soil. If it is raining and warm I go into the garden and pull up weeds while some people think of gardening is hard work, to me it is a fun activity because I get to spend time outdoors doing it. As much as I like being outside in the summer I enjoy being outside in the winter too. I love the snow and the many sports you can only do when it’s snowing. These include skiing, snow mobiling and sledding. I love to go downhill very fast on skis or sled. All of these sports are fun to do with friends also. Overall, my favorite part of our being outdoors in winter is the smell of the air which is cold and fresh. Winter is my favorite season because the cold air makes me wake up and feel alive. Also it is my preference to spend my free time outdoors I know there are many reasons why people like to spend what leisure time they have indoors. To many people the extreme weather of the winter and the summer are unappealing. Some do not like the heat of the summer and prefer to stay indoors. A lot of people don’t like the snow because it makes the roads slippery when driving or because they don’t like the cold weather. It is not always easy for people to adjust to these types of weather. In addition, there are certain activities that cannot be done outdoors. If you enjoy these things such as watching TV, playing video games, or playing on the computer, you probably prefer to spend your free time indoors. However, while I like doing these things, I prefer to be outdoors in the fresh air. I think being outdoors is a nice break from being indoors at school or at work. I believe most people spend their free time both indoors and outdoors. Most people like to be outdoors on a nice day and most people like spend some free time indoors doing things they can only do inside, like watching TV, or using the computer. No one can tell you which to prefer but as I have demonstrated I like being outdoors because of the benefits to my health and the pleasure I experience playing sports. I also love beautiful weather and being active.

In the future using technology to home school children may become an alternative to studying at traditional schools. Both home schooling and traditional schooling have advantages as well as disadvantages. This essay will discuss these different types of schooling and conclude with my opinion that the social skills one can learn only in a traditional school are essential to the social development of students.
Home schooling is an option that is beginning to become more popular as the opportunity arises to use computers or television to aid in teaching students at home. Many more people will choose to school their children at home. This option has many advantages and disadvantages. When a child is home schooled, the parents can instill the values that they want their child to learn. Parents can also attend to their child’s special needs and the child learn at his own pace. Still, if the student is taught at home, he may not have a lot of social interaction. He may not know how to act when around other children of the same age could be isolated. Students who are home schooled only become exposed to their parents viewpoints and may become close-minded as adults or not understand other people’s opinion. Traditional schooling is the option that is most often chosen for students. Like home schooling it has advantages and disadvantages. In traditional schools, students interact with their peers and learn to social skills necessary for life. Students are exposed to many viewpoints at traditional schools since they have variety of teachers and other students around them. This lets the students come to their own conclusions about different issues. Students are prepared for the future after being taught in a traditional school because they have been exposed to different viewpoints and develop their social skills. However, students do not all learn at the same pace. In traditional schools tend to put students of varying abilities into the same classroom. This may hold some students back from achieving their highest potential or it may make students try to do work that they are not capable of doing. Overall, I believe that traditional schooling is the best choice for students. In public school, students learn academically as well as socially which is very important. With home schooling students learn academics but are not exposed to social interaction skills that they will need in the future. In conclusion, social skills are just as important as academic skills in society and traditional schools teach these skills.

Sometimes people need to complain about poor service or a product that is broken or not working properly. There are people who would rather write a letter than speak with someone in person about their complaint. Which would you rather do? Why? Support your answer with detailed examples.


Sometimes it is necessary for people to complain about a product or a service. Some people think that it is better to complain in writing. Others prefer to complain in person. Both ways are valid and I will discuss why this is so in this essay. I will conclude with why I would rather complain if it were necessary to a company in writing rather than in person.
There are many advantages to complaining in person. If you speak directly to someone you’ll get an immediate response. Therefore, you’ll be able to result your problem immediately. Also, in person, you can explain your position and clear up any misunderstandings that either you or the person receiving your complaint could have. Some people get satisfaction out of complaining to alive person. They like to yell or they feel better after they have said everything. Speaking directly to someone is very personal which makes some people feel more comfortable and relax. Another bonus for some people is that they can be much more forcible in person than in a letter. And it is easier for those who feel this way to make their point and know that it was her. However, it is easy to lose your temper when you’re speaking to someone in person. You have to do everything and say everything just right. So it is easy to forget points that you would have might to make. Writing a letter of complaint, also has advantages. One good thing about writing your complaint is that you have time to set down your thoughts in a clear, concise manner. It is much easier to think of different points and not to forget anything. When writing a letter there’s more time to reflect on the situation and make sure that your responses not too emotional. If all of the points are set in a clear manner, the letter will definitely get your message across. In addition, some people are embarrassed or afraid to speak to someone in person. With a letter, the writer is much more anonymous and can feel more secure. If a person chooses to write a letter he can keep a copy of it, so he has the record of a complaint. However, writing letters has its disadvantages. Once the letter is set, you do not know whether the company or person you set it to read or threw it away. The company may not even care about the letter. Also, if there’s a point that is misunderstood, the writer cannot explain. I would much rather write a letter than speak to someone in person if I have a complaint about a product or service. I’d like to be able to gather my thoughts clearly and know that I’m not reacting emotionally. Sometimes people intimidate me so if I spoke to someone I might not be common up to make all of my points. In conclusion, for some people it might be better to speak to a person but for me, writing a complaint letter is a much better choice.

The university that I attend is trying to decide whether to buy computers for the students or books for the library. They have enough money to choose only one of these two options and they want to make the right decision. I’m trying to convince them that computers would be the better choice. Of course, both options have advantages which I will discuss in this essay. But I really think the benefits of computers outweigh the benefits of adding more books to the library. And so, I will provide reasons for my opinion in this essay as well.
Computers are wonderful inventions. Allowing computers for students to use would teach the students about technology. Students would also become familiar with computers and software programs. Most teachers ask that assignments be typed nowadays so it is good to know how to use a computer. In the future, everyone will need know how to use a computer, just for symbol communication, everyone need to know how to email others. Most students today will probably end up getting jobs that require them to know something if not a considerable amount, about how to operate a computer. Even now, most jobs use computers. In fact, even working in a store, adding up the things people buy requires basic computer skills. Student’s schoolwork would benefit greatly from computers. Computers provide information instantly and the whole world is opened up to students through them. Research can be done on the Internet instead of searching through library which can take a lot of time and often the sources in the library are less current. On the Internet there’s no end to the topics students can research. Information can be found on any topic no matter how obscure it is. Beyond the Internet, programs can be purchased like encyclopedia sets and many volume dictionaries that can be contained in a single piece of software. Professors would also benefit from computers because they would have access to different kinds of instructional materials. They could also communicate with students using e-mail. Although I believe the university’s money would be better spend on computers, books are also an important resource too, for a college to have. Sometimes books are more credible than information found on the Internet because it is difficult to know where bad information came from. It is true that books are much less expensive than computers. So the school may buy many books than computers. It is good know that the materials teachers assign or write in a library for students to use. And probably, most people would prefer reading from a book to reading from a computer screen. Computer screens have been known to harm people’s eyes so reading a book can be safer if one needs to read for a long period of time. However, the problem with books is that, they can become outdated. Often textbooks need to be replaced because new discoveries and events have occurred that make the information in them inaccurate. On the other hand, information on the Internet can be updated instantly. Overall, I think that computers would benefit the students more than buying more books for the library. Computers are the future and the students need to be a step ahead so they can be successful. Buying computers will prepare the students better for the future.

Both of these types of classes have advantages. But I prefer classes with discussions. In this essay, I will explain the advantages and disadvantages of each choice. Some students prefer lectures to discussions. In lectures no one is singled out. The teacher cannot pick on anyone because she does not talk to the students during the class. Teachers do not have favorite students in lectures. Sometimes there are people who always talk in discussions. This makes the teacher favor them over the people who do not contribute. This is unfair because sometimes students simply are not comfortable talking in front of everyone else. Many people cannot speak with the group around because they get embarrassed. The person does not have to worry about getting involved so he can take the notes and leave when the class is finished. Lectures also make the students less involved in quick critical thinking. In discussions the students have to apply the lesson to other things and they have to think critically about many issues. Since the students in lectures do not have to speak they do not have to worry about thinking critically about everything the teacher is saying. The students can just accept what the teacher says without having to talk about it critically. Other students would much rather be in a class where they discuss the issues they are learning about. They enjoy involvement and want to be included in the class. In discussions, sometimes students feel like they are learning more. They discuss the topic and get a deeper understanding of it. During lectures students hear what the teacher is saying but they do not get involved so they only have a shallow understanding of the class material. In discussions, people can give their opinion and discuss the topic until they understand it thoroughly. Since the students are involved, they are not going to be as bored as in a lecture. If you look around lecture halls, there are many people sleeping. In discussions people are aware of what is going on and they get involved in the class. They are not bored because they are individually involved. The students in discussions also get to know the people in their class. They are able to speak to one another and they can get acquainted much more than the students in lectures. Teachers also get to know their students because they talk to them and work with them instead of just speaking to everyone in personally. It is a much more comfortable, friendly atmosphere when everyone is involved in the class.

The United States of America is a nation that is very industrial because of this, land is being developed and there’s less and less land in its natural condition. New housing plants and buildings are being created everyday. There are advantages and disadvantages to the development of land in the America. In this essay, I will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of developing the land and I will argue against the development of land.
Land development has many advantages for society. As the nation’s population grows, more houses are needed. By developing land, houses can be built to satisfy the growing demand. Also, as the nation grows so do the industries. New businesses are created with the advancements of technology and the development of new products. More industries mean that their needs to be more places for them to go. Businesses and factories need room to be built to expand the nation’s industry. With the growing industry the economy will benefit and jobs will be created. Land can also be developed into such things as parks and farms in order to benefit people. Farms are needed so that people have enough food. Parks on the other hand, are simply a form of recreation that people enjoy very much. Still, there are disadvantages to developing the land. Land in its natural condition has many benefits. Oxygen, natural resources, food and water are provided by the land. When the land is developed, these important aspects of the land are destroyed. This creates many health problems in humans. People will not have enough oxygen or clean water. If factories continue to be built at an increasing rate, trees are cut down to be used for paper, houses and many other things. Without saving the trees and plants, people may run out of oxygen one day. It will also be difficult to get around because we’ll run out of natural gas that is used for cars and other transportation. Industries and humans also create toxic waste that’s dangerous to the environment. Aerosol spray cans deplete the ozone. Without the natural benefits of the land and with all the toxic waste wild life is in danger. We have already killed off species of animals and the more this happens the more we disturb the natural balance of life. I believe that is important to conserve land. Land in its natural condition is important because humans need the natural resources and benefits that the land provides. In the country’s current state the land already developed enough. The economy is doing well there are enough houses. Therefore, it is important to conserve the natural resources and land that we have left. If we do not we could endanger human life because we will not have the resources we need to live.

The close relationship between people and pets is common to many cultures and has existed throughout history. For many, their dog, cat, bird, snake or reptile is treated as a member of their family. I believe this relationship has benefit at both people and animals in many ways. To demonstrate this relationship and its positive impact on people I will provide a brief history of pets and their masters in this essay followed by the practical, personal and scientific aspects of this relationship.

The small animal being stroked and embraced by the child wags its tail or purse or gives the child a few tender licks. They become inseparable at that very moment. Within the last two decades, the relationship between people and pets has come under the scrutiny of scientists. Health care professions such as medical doctors and psychiatrists became intrigue by the parrot positive impact, contact between patients and pets have all the patients recovery from illness, injury and metal health disorders. It is common today to visit a nursing home and find old people stroking cats and dogs or chirping to birds that have been brought into the facility or a pet therapy program. Pet therapy is also used in children’s worth of hospitals and in mental health facilities with people who have withdrawn from contact with others. What doctors have suspected for years is now being conformed by science. Simply petting a cat or dog lowers the blood pressure and heart rates of people. It has also been shown that people who own pets live longer than who do not. The medical benefits of this relationship are still being studied. The relationship between pets and people benefits both. As it has rap recorded history and likely from the very beginning of civilization people are drawn to animals and make them their pets. Then bond that forms between them is often so strong that either master or pet will endanger themselves to protect the other. The pet benefits through the care and love its given and in turn, it repays its master love, affection, loyalty, protection, service, better health and the longer life.

The place for one chooses to live is one of the most important decisions in one’s life. Most people want to place where they live to reflect their personalities and individual life styles. City living and living in a small town represent two distinct ways of life which appeal to different types of people based on what they want out of life. Both of these modes of living has its own advantages and disadvantages. What should be explored before deciding where to live? I will consider both options in this essay and conclude the essay with why I believe a small town is the best place to live.
In a big city environment, there are always many things to do. Cities tend to be cultural centers which emphasizes the importance of variety of art, music, food, sports and other attractions. People who live in cities often prefer to be active. They like having something to do or somewhere to go all of the time. Large cities tend to attract people from all over the world because these places are hometown to many businesses and industries. Having so many different people and options gives most big cities a multi type cultural appearance. To meet the demands of all of the people living in a city many businesses and industries are usually looking for many people to work for them. Because they are large, cities can offer a variety of things to do and see but cities also have downside. Cities can often be crowded and dirty compared to more rural areas. Since the population is large in cities there is more violence, crime and drug use. A contrast to cities small towns can be nicer places to live because the pace of life is slower in these areas. It is true that there are not as many cultural sights or places to go when you live in a small town. At the same time, people who live in small towns do not feel rush or that they have to be doing something all of the time. Many people enjoy living in such places because there is a strong sense of community and everyone knows everyone else. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed. Those who are used to being around large crowds and having great variety of things might find small town life somewhat boring. But it’s also true that most small towns are not too far from the city. This also allows people to work in the city at a variety of jobs and be able to live the hustle and bustle of the city at night. They can return to the peace and quiet of their little town. I personally prefer small town life because it gives me access to the city as well as an escape from the things I dislike about the city. I enjoy the slower pace of living, knowing my neighbors well and having a strong sense of community in my town while I do like some of the things that are offered in a big city environment I appreciate being able to return to the peace and quite which one finds in a small town.

As cities grow larger more and more people are considering the move from small towns into the cities. Big cities offer their inhabitants many opportunities especially in the areas of career and entertainment. While small towns cannot compete with metropolises in these areas. They do offer several features that make rural living more appealing to people like me. In this essay, I will describe why I would prefer to live in a small town.
First, small towns are generally safer than larger cities. Urban areas with their masses of people crowded together faster crime. In smaller cities where are fewer businesses and everybody knows everybody there are fewer criminal opportunities and few chances of escaping without being recognized. Also, towns generally have fewer problems with gangs and drug transporters - two groups of people who frequently engage in or contribute to crime. Second, small towns are preferable to many people over the life in a big city because they tend to give residents more of a sense of community. People in a big city tend to move more often and be busy over than people in the countryside are. For this reason, residents of urban areas often don’t even know their next door neighbors. Small town dwellers often come from families that have been in the area for generations and may have lived next to order the same neighbors for years. The smaller the town the easier it is to know everyone by name. Knowing the majority of people whom you meet means more handshakes, waves and nods, in general more friendliness. People throughout a small community are more likely to gather for a town festival an activity that promotes togetherness, belonging and good will. Third, people in small town have more time to spend with family and friends. Large city inhabitants spend enormous amounts of time waiting in rush hour traffic or at the supermarket etc. They also may work long hours at a large corporation. In contrast, citizens of rural townships don’t have to fight with traffic or queues. They traditionally close businesses at five or six o’clock and go home to the family dinner. Fewer working hours along with less driving time means that these town’s people have not only more time with family and friends but also more quality time since they aren’t stressed out over their career or their commune. In summary, it is impossible to ignore the fact that metropolises offer people access to operas, plays, lucrative careers and 24 hour conveniences. However, for people like me who are willing to trade these opportunities for a simpler, more relaxed life, small town living is hard to be.

I will also discuss why someone might want the government to spend more money on making roads and highways safer and easier to travel on.
There are a number of advantages to the government spending the public’s tax money on public transportation. For a one thing, public transportation is a great thing for the environment. People need to travel to their jobs, to the store, to visit family and friends. They will tend to use the most convenient and cost-effective method possible to get where they want to go. If the government uses its money to improve public transportation, subways, busses and trains will become more efficient for people to use than they are now. People will choose to take the subway or the bus to work instead of driving their cars which create a lot of pollution. Another important thing to remember about public transportation is that it is there so that people will use it. If they are not using it, it means that the government isn’t advertising it well or that it isn’t convenient or pleasant. It’s a waste to have public transportation and not have anyone using it. The city I live in is a good example of this, while our public transportation is convenient the stations are not always clean or safe. Government money could be used to improve the quality of bus and subway stations which would make them more inviting. People would then want to take advantage of these inexpensive, convenient means of travelling. In addition to these advantages, improvements to the public transportation system will make my city more appealing to tourists. There are many exciting things to seeing and doing in my city and a good, safe public transportation system makes visitors feel that they can go anywhere and do anything. They won’t need to navigate unfamiliar streets in their cars drive in heavy traffic. Taking a bus or the subway, always it easier to figure out where you are going. Of course, there are reasons why someone might prefer to spend this government money on improving highways and roads instead of public transportation. After all, Americans love their cars. It is said that Americans like to be independent and so they prefer to drive by themselves to work or with their families on longer trips. Even though their cities may have good system of public transportation, many people believe that driving their own cars is more convenient. This is because you don’t have to follow a schedule. You can just walk out of your house whenever you’re ready and drive to your destination. Improve the roads and highways will make driving more comfortable for people, pot holes could be filled, roads could be whitened, more roads could be built. However, these improvements would probably draw more people to use the roads and highways. This would mean that eventually, we would be back where we started with more traffic, more pollution and more maintenance needed to keep the roads in good condition. In the end, I think it makes the most sense for governments to spend money improving public transportation instead of roads and highways. First, it is better for the environment, second, public transportation systems have been built so that people will use them. Finally, better public transportation will help to bring tourist to the area. Americans may love their cars but I think they could learn to love their public transportation as well.

Even married couples cannot be by each other side all of the time. They know that the other person needs space and time alone every once in a while. There are some people who simply like having their privacy. When you are alone you can do whatever you want without having to worry about what other people might think. With friends everyone has an opinion about what to do which can make the situation ?cayonic?. By yourself you can relax by watching a movie, reading a book or even going shopping. It is nice to be able to get away from everything else by doing something without other people around you. Overall, if you want to have time to relax and do what you want to do it’s better to be alone.
In many cases, it’s good to spend time with friends. It’s always more exciting to be with friends that to be alone whether you are just enjoying a conversation or going somewhere, you are more energetic that when you are alone. If something is bothering you, you can sit alone and worry about it. But friends are always there for you if you need to talk about what’s bothering you. They can give you another perspective and help you find answers to your problems. Even if you don’t want to talk to someone about what’s bothering you. Friends can help just by being with you whether it is just to have someone near you, to show you that you are not alone or to go out with you to help you forget your worries.
Friends are important. Going out with friends also allows you to clear your mind so that you can think more clearly about the situation later. Also, spending time with friends let you get out of the house where sometimes a person can feel bored if he has nothing to do. In my opinion, it’s important to spend time alone as well as to spend time with friends. Free time should be divided equally between your friends and you. Both ways of spending time benefit your life and help you to keep happy. While I value being able to relax and spend time without anyone bothering me, I also like to get out and do things with other people.

Finally, I will argue that both types of friends are important to have.
Friends who are similar to you are nice to have because a similar friend likes to do the same thing that you like to do. Friends who are similar have relatively the same beliefs and interests which give them a better understanding of each other and make it easy for them to talk together. Friends can support one another if one of them is going through a rough time that the other went through before. It’s always nice to know that there is someone you could relate to and who understands you. If a friend does something you are more likely to understand the reasons that your friend did it. Their share of understanding means that similar people will have fewer conflicts about beliefs and what they should do together. For example, both of them could be very outgoing and love going to night-clubs or perhaps they are both shy and would rather go to see a movie or go to a coffee-house. Whatever one suggests, the other is likely to agree to. Overall, a friendship with someone who is similar to you is going to run fairly smoothly.
It is also good, sometimes, to have friends who are different from you. While learning about your friend’s personality you can also learn about yourself. Because the differences in your personalities will be more obvious. Maybe, you learn that you are more stubborn that you thought you were. Knowing that you are different will also make you grow. Take for instance, someone who is extremely shy. She becomes friend with someone who is outgoing and social. Her new friend wants to go to a party. So, she goes along. At the party she learns to be more social. Growing like this happens because having a friend that is different from you can challenge you to try things you never thought you are capable of. For example, maybe you have always wanted to go skydiving but never had the courage. If you have a friend who is daring, he could inspire you to finally do it. When you have a friend who is different from you, you learn how to compromise, so that both of you have fun. Compromising is important all thorough life. So, having a friend who is opposite in tastes and personality from you can help you learn to work well with others. Personally, I believe it is good to have both friends who are similar to me and friends who are different from me. Sometimes, I’d like to be able to talk to someone who will understand me. Other times I want to be able to go out and something new. Both kinds of friends are valuable. And I think that it’s important for people to have both kinds of friends.

Lumber is also used for such things as making furniture, boats and toys. Everyone uses furniture and if would be hard to imagine life without it. In the past, boats were the only means of transportation between countries parted by the ocean. Without lumber, no one would have even discovered America. America's industry is very important to the nation. Trees that make paper and lumber are a huge industry. Since the United States is so large and has so many resources, trees are prinical. Some countries do not have enough trees and it is a big business for America to export lumber and paper to other countries. This is good for the economy and it's helpful to the countries that are in need of lumber and paper. As I have demonstrated, trees for making paper and lumber are very important to the United States. Many people take them for granted but without them we would suffer greatly. All plants have some importance but trees are absolutely indispensable.
