CULTURE SHOCK COURSE PAPER
CONCLUSION
Coming to another country and getting into an unusual environment, it is difficult to expect a constant feeling of happiness. The resulting psychological discomfort gradually disappears as you get used to a new environment. The period of adaptation is a test that gives us not only the experience of learning the language, people and foreign culture, but also understanding ourselves, discovering something new – both in the language and in the culture of our native country. The study of real situations of intercultural contact shows that people perceive non-native culture and its representatives differently. The range of perception ranges from the complete denial of the existence of other cultures to integration into a new culture, when its norms and values begin to be perceived as their own. In this course paper, the role of culture in human life and the difficulties that he faces in the conditions of a new culture, when he has to get used to a new way of life, a new environment, to understand for himself new rules of behavior and communication, were considered. Currently, due to the intensive interaction of specialists from different countries and in connection with the continuation of emigration from Russia, as well as migration processes within the country, the problem of cultural shock is becoming more and more urgent. The problem of socio-cultural adaptation in such spheres of human activity as business and entrepreneurship is very important, and not only related to import or export, but also with production established on the territory of another state. According to the research of a foreign scientist J.Kim, the consequence of an individual's adaptation under favorable circumstances is his personal growth. This refers to the professional activity of a person. The process of a person's "entry" into another culture depends on a number of factors. These include individual differences – personal and demographic. According to foreign sources, sociable, highly intelligent, self-confident young people with a good education face the least difficulties when entering a different cultural environment. The adaptation process is also significantly influenced by the presence of previous experience of staying abroad, as well as knowledge of the language and cultural characteristics of the country. One of the most important factors of adaptation to a different cultural environment is the establishment of friendly contacts with local residents, as well as the friendly policy pursued by the state towards emigrants. The most loyal in this sense are countries such as Sweden, Austria and Canada. The Governments of these countries pursue a policy of freedom and equality for representatives of different cultures, implementing the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. In the course of studying this topic, the hypothesis that was proposed confirmed - culture shock has not only negative consequences. Modern researchers consider it as a normal reaction, as part of the usual process of getting used to new conditions. Moreover, during this process, a person not only acquires knowledge about a new culture and new norms of behavior, but also becomes more culturally developed, although he experiences stress at the same time.
