L’Imparfait de l’Indicatif (Imperfect Indicative) – used to indicate the
following:
An action that was going on in
the past at the same time as
another action.
An action that was going on in the past when another action
happened.
A habitual action in the past.
When describing a past mental or physical condition.
An action that happened in the past
and lasted for a certain
amount of time before another action happened.
When conjugating in this tense, the verb’s present
indicative form with the
pronoun “nous” is used as the basis. The –ons is dropped and replaced.
