Date:28.11.2022. Form: 8. Theme: My area. Aims: Educational: to learn about location, culture in Uzbekistan and Scotland. Developing: to develop speaking, writing, reading and listening skills. Socio-cultural: to raise awareness of different cultures and locations. Up-bringing: to enrich pupils‟ knowledge of our tradition and nation and compare with other countries(Scotland). Learning outcomes: At the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to use know about location and culture, use learnt language in practice, ask and answer the questions. Competence: SC1,FLCC, PC. Type of the lesson: Group work, pair-work, individual work, mixed. Method of the lesson: nontraditional, “guess what?” Equipment of the lesson: “Prepare 8” SB, WB, pictures, internet, computers, projector. Procedure of the lesson: 1.Organizing moment: Greeting, checking attendance, season, weather, checking the preparation for the lesson,song. -Check for the hometask given on the past. - Ask pupils all new words learnt on previous lesson. 2.Pre-activity: Students should pick up the parts of the two flags onto the board(Uzbekistan, Scotland) during the lesson and draw or project a map the UK and challenge the pupils to label the four countries and their capital cities. Then, ask some general knowledge questions about Uzbekistan and Scotland(see example questions). If appropriate, do this as a team game and award points. 1. What‟s the capital of Uzbekistan?(Tashkent) 2. What‟s the currency?(the soum) 3. How many people live in Uzbekistan? (30 million) 4. What is capital of Scotland?(Edinburg) 5. What is the highest mountain in Scotland?(Ben Nevis-1,344m) 6. Does Scotland have a king or a queen? ( a queen) 7. What is the Scottish flag like?(a white cross on a blue background) 8. How many people live in Scotland?(5.4 million) 3. Main part: Activity 1. Read the sentences and look at the map. Match the sentences tp the places. Books closed. Challenge the pupils to tell you everything they can remember about Edinburg from unit 14. If take all informations, organize the pupils in to teams and award points. Books open. Next ask the students to look at the information in the factfile in pairs and find the cities. Answers: 1.Glasgow. 2.Inverness. 3. Edinburg. 4. Post- activity. Activity 2. Read the photos(A-E) to the texts (1-5) 1.This city is in west of Scotland. It is the largest city in Scotland. 2.This city is in the north of Scotland. It is the capital of the Scottish Highlands. 3.This city is near the coast in the east of Scotland. It is capital of the country. Scotland is part of the United Kingdom. Population: Around 5.4 million people Languages: English, Gaelic and Scots Capital city : Edinburgh Ask the stedents to look at the title Scottish Highlights and the photos and ask „What do you think highlights means?‟ (the best or most important things ) Next ask them to describe the photos in pairs and try to guess what each thing is before they match the photo to its text If necessary, point out that they should not write the letter (A-E) of the photo in the space as this space is for a heading. 1.D 2.A 3.C 4.B 5.E 5.
