1. The modal verb can comes with the Perfect Infinitive (can’t + have + P.P.) and is idle and is used in interrogative sentences and the interlocutor is speaking. It represents the impossibility of an action:



  • She can’t have made it.



  • Can you have said about it?

2. Can + have + P.P. The used extract is the original sentence to the sentence when converted, in a possessive sentence could + have + P.P. used:



  • He said that you couldn't have done it.

3. Need not (needn't) + have + P.P. It happened in the past tense, but it is used when it is necessary to perform this action:




Task 4. Work with your partner together. Role-play a conversation between old friends. Make good use of can't have and needn't have.
eg. Friend 1: - Hi dear, Yesterday, I worried about my future career.
Friend 2: - Hello! Why did you have worry?
Friend 1: - My mother told me she didn't want me to be an actor.
Friend 2: - Sure! I can’t believe you. She can’t have said about it.
Because she knew you had a strong interest in acting.
You needn’t have worried about it.
