FAIRYTALE ANALYSIS THE WOLF and THE LAMB

The Wolf and the Lamb is one of the most popular fables in history. It's a story about the wolf and the lamb who meet each other at the brook. They both need to drink. But wolf decides to get breakfast too. Lamb looks perfect for this, so he hurries to make an excuse to eat the little lamb. But the youngster is smarter than expected and defeats all the accusations. Wolf has no chance to beat the lamb in logic. But the pure reason is not enough. The brute force will eventually win. We can be as civilized as we want, yet the trant will always find an excuse to execute his will. There is no clear authorship of the fable about the lamb and the wolf. It's included in the collection of Aesop's fables for many centuries. Jean de La Fontaine and Ivan Andreevich Krylov included the same story in almost the same form in their books too. It's an immortal allegory which can be used as a clear and convincing example of the realistic situation in society. This fable inspired numerous musicians and painters to present their vision or interpretation of the dramatic contrast between the beast and the victim. There is no definite version of The Wolf and the Lamb story. But being long or short, all follow a very similar pattern: The wolf and the lamb went to the same brook in the morning. While drinking the wolf feels the hunger and looking at the gentle lamb tries to find an excuse to eat it.

The first, the wolf accuses the lamb to stirring up the mud. But this can't be true, because the wolf stand upstream and the lamb downstream. If anybody stirs up the mud, it's vice versa. Then, the wolf says he is still angry about the insult coming from the lamb last year. This can't be true either, because the lamb is a way to young. It wasn't even born last year. At last, the beast concludes that must be lamb's brother or sister. Another pointless claim - this lamb doesn't have any brothers or sisters.

Anyway, the wolf says it doesn't intend to be talked out of the breakfast, so it grabs the lamb and carries it to the wood.
