Artistic philosophical analysis of the image of Robinson in the work Robinson Crusoe
The most famous work of Daniel Defoe is Robinson Crusoe, the main character of the work tells the adventures of Robinson Crusoe, a careless, extravagant young man from a respectable bourgeois family, who disobeys the advice of his parents, who dissuade him from becoming a navigator. He had the opportunity to experience many things, but gradually difficulties will shape his character, teach him wisdom. After a shipwreck, Robinson ends up on a desert island and spends 28 years, 2 months and 19 days there. Defoe's hero finds himself isolated from other people on a deserted island, with only a knife, a pipe and a tobacco box. He soon salvages things that will help him survive the sunken ship. Thus, Defoe separates the hero not from civilization, but from social relations. Robinson Crusoe works, thinks, and gradually makes his life not only tolerable, but beautiful. The author dwells in detail on all the achievements of Robinson Crusoe: how he erected a canvas tent for himself and surrounded his dwelling with a palisade; how he hunted wild goats and then decided to capture them, built a fort for them, milked them and learned to make butter and cheese from their milk; how he discovered a few grains of barley and rice, and how laborious it was to dig the field with a wooden spade, how to protect his crop from goats and birds, how a crop perished at the onset of drought, and how it was dry for planting and began to observe the change of rainy seasons at the right time; how he learned to make pottery and to fire it; how he made a garment of goat skin, how he dried and preserved wild grapes, how he caught a parrot, tamed it and taught it to speak, how he tried to make a boat to sail on the sea, and what came of it. Robinson Crusoe's work is hard and mundane. Having acquired many household skills since childhood, he learns even more on the island. Defoe was one of the first enlighteners to write about the role of labor in human history. Robinson Crusoe follows common sense in everything, he knows how to come to terms with his position, not to despair, to act solely on himself. Seeing that Robinson Crusoe is able to survive alone on a desert island, he calms down, begins to think about his previous life, reads the Bible saved from the ship, compiles a book of good and evil, taking into account income and expenses. book where he charts the positives and negatives of his life on the island.
We see that Robinson not only managed to survive, but also used all his knowledge to turn the barren island into a prosperous place adapted to life. He achieved this thanks to hard work, perseverance, determination and, of course, a little help from the writer. Nevertheless, Defoe left assistants to the hero of the novel, such as axes and nails, gunpowder and weapons, needles, canvas, paper with ink, seeds of cultivated plants, and the Bible that Robinson took on board.
We see the hero of the novel, Robinson, gradually conquers nature, bringing a fragment of civilization to this land that God left behind. Robinson didn't go crazy, he didn't become wild, but because everything started to work. Here we see how a sailor becomes a simple house builder with canvas and improvised means, and how he becomes a hunter and a fisherman. Then, applying knowledge, he becomes a herdsman who feeds wild goats, but this is not the limit. After finding a few seeds of cultivated plants, he becomes a grain farmer.
In years gone by on the island, Crusoe is still trying on the role of a teacher who decides to make a learned man out of Friday.Robinson is a hero who never gives up, a role model for all of us and teaches us to love hard work, work hard and never give up.It is easy to imagine that Robinson felt the deepest depression when he first reached the island. He is a weak man alone with the sea. Robinson Crusoe is out of touch with what he is used to. Civilization makes us weak. However, he later realizes how lucky he is to have survived. Realizing his position, the main character begins to settle on the island.During his twenty-eight years on the desert island, Robinson learned many things that helped him survive. The distance from civilization forced him to master the skills of making fire, candles, dishes, oil. This man built his own house, furniture, learned to bake bread, weave baskets and farm the land.Perhaps the most valuable skill that Robinson Crusoe has acquired over the years is the ability to survive and not exist under any circumstances. He did not complain about fate, he did everything to improve it, hard work helped him.
The work about Robinson Crusoe can rightfully be considered the first psychological novel. The author tells about the character of the main character, his experiences. The man who wrote Robinson Crusoe tells an unusual story about the experiences of a man on a desert island. The writer reveals the recipe, as a result of which the main character finds the strength not to lose courage. Robinson survived because he was able to pull himself together and work hard without giving in to disappointment. In addition, Defoe gave the main character the ability to analyze his behavior. For a long time, Robinson kept a diary, which was his only interlocutor. The main character learned to see the good in everything that happened to him. Realizing that it could be worse, he took action. A difficult life demanded from him the ability to be an optimist.Chapters of Defoe's Robinson Crusoe tell us a lot about this hero - a very real character. Like any other person, this sailor has good and bad qualities. In the case of Khuri, he reveals himself as a traitor who cannot empathize with others. For example, it is characteristic that Friday calls him not a friend, but a master. Robinson himself speaks of himself as the owner of the island, or even the king of this land. However, the author gives the main character many positive qualities. He realizes that he can only be responsible for all the misfortunes in his life. Robinson is a strong person who constantly strives to improve his destiny.
