Moby Dick 2

CONCLUSION
Moby-Dick starts in the first woman narrative style, its long and winding sentences significantly test the reading skill of its readers. They are likewise highly creative with the overdone use of figurative language. The articulation shows Melville’s marine tradition and his skillful use of the sea jargons. The conversation in addition to the character writings show that Moby Dick has taken a considerable occasion to portray the wisdom of its character. For classical devices, Melville generally relies on similes, personifications in addition to parallelism.

  1. The main action of the novel comprises the story of Ishmael, his obsession with whale hunting and his survival after all of his colleagues die in hunting Moby Dick. The rising action occurs when they all come face to face with Moby Dick, while the falling action occurs when Captain Ahab gets killed and Ishmael survives.

  2. AnaphoraThe novel shows examples of anaphora as given below,
    i. Some leaning against the spiles; some seated upon the pier-heads; some looking over the bulwarks of ships from China; some high aloft in the rigging, as if striving to get a still better seaward peep.
ii. But what is this lesson that the book of Jonah teaches? Shipmates, it is a two-stranded lesson: a lesson to us all as sinful men, and a lesson to me as a pilot of the living God.
These examples show the repetitious use of “some” and “a lesson.”
