One of the most famous panics in the United States was begun by a radio broadcast. In 1938, CBS radio broadcast a dramatization of a science fiction novel by H.G. Wells called "War of the Worlds". It told the story of an invasion from Mars with the Martians landing in New Jersey and taking over New York fifteen minutes later.
