Soliyeva Sevara Tour 119 commodification of tourism

For example, the culture of a nation that revolves around services such as fast food, products such as cars and experiences such as a theme park. This can be contrasted with non-commoditized culture such as a unique local festival or tradition.
Within a capitalist economic system, commodification is the transformation of goods, services, ideas, nature, personal information or people into commodities or objects of trade. A commodity at its most basic, according to Arjun Appadurai, is "anything intended for exchange," or any object of economic value.
In addition to the economic benefits, cultural commodification has spread more Chiangkhan culture to other societies around the world. It has also encouraged people to learn about the culture and identities of the Chiangkhan people.

The demonstration effect is the oc- currence of indigenous and rural commu- nities and cultures adopting western style. and behaviour that they have observed in. visiting tourists through demonstration and interaction.

Commodification is socially constructed and involves businesses taking things such as identity and language and turning aspects of them into a service or good (Bhasin 2016). Commodification plays a large role in how society views subcultures and deviance.

In general, tourism leakage takes place when revenues from its economic activities are not available for reinvestment or consumption of goods and services within the same destination. ... Leakage also occurs when tourism-related goods, services, and labor are imported.
