Formative Assessment - Needs Assessment Nilufar Vafoyeva MA TESOL, Webster University Lesson Planning and Curriculum Development for Language Classrooms TESL 5230 UA 2023 Professor: Yayra Abduraimova Description of Learners I work as a general English instructor in a recently established educational facility in the Uchtepa district. Each classroom in our learning complex has a computer, as well as projectors, a blackboard, and a printer. English rooms have a U-shape and are painted in light hues like pink, yellow, and blue. There are six students in my target group, who are at a low pre-intermediate level. They are all secondary school pupils between the ages of 15 and 17. There are two male and four female Uzbek students here. English is the third foreign language that Firdavs, Malohat, and Durdona are fluent in, while Mohichehra, Aziza, and Ulug'bek (pseudonyms) are learning English as a second language. In terms of their linguistic background, I can say that I have been teaching them since the very beginning, especially Malohat, Aziza, and Mohichehra who had only been exposed to school instruction and had only very basic knowledge, such as a small bank of vocabulary. I am unable to make the same claim for others, though. Elbek and Durdona, who were 15 and 16 years old, respectively, attended various classes for two months and had a bigger vocabulary than the other students. Firdavs was one of my independent study students who learned English by viewing videos on YouTube. The course material for each level is also available, and each level should be completed in no more than two or two and a half months. Three times a week, 1.5 hours are provided for lessons.
