• Uzbekistan ranks 14th in the world in

terms of natural gas production, third

in the world in exports and sixth in cotton

production , seventh in the world in terms

of uranium reserves (4% of world uranium

reserves), in terms of total gold reserves

Uzbekistan ranks fourth in the world ,

and in terms of gold production on the seventh.

Noticeable Growth

According to World Bank Forecast, Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Uzbekistan has grown from ▲ 0.6% in 2020 to ▲7% in 2021. Which means, despite quarantine, Uzbekistan still managed to ameliorate in terms of GDP. The volume of assimilated foreign investments in the economy of Uzbekistan for 2020 amounted to about 10 billion dollars.

Overall GDP of Uzbekistan indicates

$303.3 billion, which is more than

overall GDP of Bolivia ($105.063 billion).

Croatia’s and Cuba’s total GDP is less than

GDP of Uzbekistan showing $252 billion.

According to experts, the share of the 

shadow economy in the GDP of

Uzbekistan is estimated at 45-46%.

On 1 July 2019, Deputy Minister of

Foreign Affairs of the Republic of

Uzbekistan Dilshod Akhatov met with

Undersecretary of State for Eastern Policy,

Economic Diplomacy and Development

Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign

Affairs of Poland Marcin Przydacz, who

arrives in Uzbekistan on a working visit.

The parties emphasized their commitment

to constructive dialogue, expansion of mutually

beneficial and multifaceted cooperation.

In 2018, the Minister of Economic

Development of the Russian Federation

Maxim Oreshkin, following the negotiations

between the President of Russia Vladimir

Putin and the President of Uzbekistan 

Shavkat Mirziyoyev , signed the Program for

Economic Cooperation between the

Governments of Russia and Uzbekistan

for 2019-2024. 

Tourism in Uzbekistan

Cultural Tourism is the only major product Uzbekistan is providing to visitors since its independence. Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva are hot spots of tourism. Overall, the tourism sector served 621,700 people and rendered services for 40.6 billion soums (73.1% of forecast). The industry earned 598.4 million soums in 2005.

In 2012, the trade turnover between

Russia and Uzbekistan, according to the

Federal Customs Service of the Russian

Federation, amounted to $3714.4 million. 

At the same time, Russian exports increased

by 10.4% (up to 2325 million US dollars).

At the beginning of 2013, 846 Russian-Uzbek

companies worked in Uzbekistan, representative

offices of 127 Russian enterprises were accredited. 

401 companies with Uzbek capital have been

created in Russia.
