She wishes she knew his address. (She is sorry she doesn’t know his address.)
I wish you could drive a car. (But you can’t drive a car.)
My father wishes there was / were more classic music on the radio. (There are very few 1programs that broadcast classic music.)
PAST:
S + wish (that) + somebody + past perfect
Bekzod almost wishes he hadn’t invited Ali. = He is sorry he invited him.
I wish I hadn’t spent so much money on useless stuff. = I’m sorry I spent so much money.
I wish she had written to me. = I’m sorry she didn’t write to me.
I wish I had gone to the concert last night. = I’m sorry I didn’t go to the concert.
Jobirhon wishes he hadn’t overindulged so much last night. =
He is sorry he ate and drank too much last night.
The host wishes the old fireplaces hadn’t been ripped out. =
I’m sorry they were ripped out.
I bet Mark wishes he had never got involved in the whole series of events. (But he was involved.)
