7. THE “GOOD” LAW SCHOOL MOVIE
There is only one good Law School movie: The Paper Chase. It’s
a little overly
dramatic, but it is the only movie to ever capture the horror that is the Socratic
Method. Luckily, most law professors are not nearly
as maniacal as Professor
Kingsfield in the movie. But The Paper Chase offers a glimpse into what it’s like to
participate in a Law School class and how crazy everyone becomes during finals.
The Paper Chase is the quintessential Law School movie
and should be required
watching. Nothing else comes close.
(Legally Blonde may be entertaining, but it’s not even in the realm of the possible).

8. MENTALLY PREPARE
1.
The Hours are Long (but can be managed)
There are so many myths and tall tales about Law School. Stories of pulling
all-nighters every night of the week. Stories of mental breakdowns.
While it’s probably true that many people freakout
and overwork themselves in
Law School, all of that can be avoided with proper preparation.
It’s going to take hard work to succeed in Law School. While there are ways to
make
Law School easier, much more efficient,
and more successful, it’s still going
to take hard work.
By the same token you need to prevent burnout. The
way to do that is to work
consistently, but at less than 100% every day. Law School is a marathon, not a
sprint. (finals
are a sprint, but that’s a different story).
