ICT AND EDUCATION
ICT, or information and communications technology (or technologies), is the infrastructure and components that enable modern computing.Although there is no single, universal definition of ICT, the term is generally accepted to mean all devices, networking components, applications and systems that combined allow people and organizations (i.e., businesses, nonprofit agencies, governments and criminal enterprises) to interact in the digital world.
This term refers to the various aspects of computes, networks (including the Internet), software and other environments that act as a tool for teachers and students by supporting learning and instruction. ICT implementation in education is a complex and multifaceted process and, till now, many difficulties encountered to integrate ICT in the school practices. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in education is the mode of education that use information and communications technology to support, enhance, and optimise the delivery of information.Worldwide research has shown that ICT can lead to an improved student learning and better teaching methods. A report made by the National Institute of Multimedia Education in Japan , proved that an increase in the use of ICT in education with integrating technology to the curriculum has a significant and positive impact on students’ achievements. The results specifically showed that the students who are continuously exposed to technology through education has better ‘knowledge’, presentation skills, innovative capabilities, and are ready to take more efforts into learning as compared to their counterparts.
