Retirement can be seen as a bitter pill and could be reviewed from different perspectives. To some people this period comes with daunting challenges in terms of adaptation to the new chapter of their life. While this may be due to some psychological factors, organizing special programs for retirees would help them in managing pre-retirement anxiety.
The reason of struggling in an adjustment process of retirees can lie in disengagement from a work life or diminished attention. In fact, the transition to retirement can trigger both looking back at one’s life and looking forward to its last chapter. The retirees who engage in nostalgia regret of their critical nurturing of social relationship and self-actualization. It’s not quite easy for some retired people to accept that there may be no demand for them to return to the occupational niche they occupied for so long.
One of the ways of tackling this problem is creating a retirement community for senior citizens that is all tied together by their residents considering that older adults may want to remain as independent as possible through their retirement years. Additionally the retirement community should provide amenities such as medical facilities and fitness clubs including neighboring hospital and homes with easy-to-reach cabinet doors. Also helping with reconnection with neglected friends and family members plays a vital role to make the old go through this period as a honey moon phase that recuperates from the stress and strains of employment.
In conclusion, I believe that creating special communities for people who ended their career and went to retirement by opening a way to a new generation is a truly worthy measure that can be taken to make them live a fully satisfactory life with their loved ones.
