INTENSIVE SPEAKING COURSE 2 (15.09 – THU 2) 
There is something to be said for – said to mean something has advantages. 
Needless to say – of course. 
Have the say – to be involved in making a decision about something. 
Having said that – despite what has just been said. 
To say the least – to not describe something in strongest way you could, often in order to be 
polite. 
Recap – to repeat the main points of an explanation. 
That is to say – used when explaining more clearly what you have just said.
Odd – strange or unexpected. 
Devastating – causing a lot of damage or destruction. 
Intimate – to make clear what you think or want without saying it. 
Narrate – to tell a story, often reading aloud from text. 
Merely – only, just. 
Intrigue – to interest someone a lot, especially by being strange, unusual, or mysterious. 
Pinpoint – to discover or establish something exactly. 
You can say that again – I completely agree with you. 
Now as Part 3 questions that I will discuss contain questions about 
communication and topics that young people talk about and also as you 
know there are a lot of questions about young people in IELTS Part 3.
Let’s look at some topics that young people nowadays discuss a lot to 
help you generate more ideas and also become more familiar with our 
todays lesson’s topic. And also They are the topics that are commonly 
discussed among people. So we will learn to generate ideas for the topics 
that young people talk about and people talk about. So, let's discuss 
them. And let's discuss why these topics are important to talk about. 
1. Physical and emotional changes
Gone are the days when parents should feel shy to discuss pubertal changes with their 
teenagers as this is one of the major development that characterize the teenage 
years.
