Alisher Usmanov (RUS): Again, dear friends, thank you for your confidence and support for me for our efforts during the last four years, together with my colleagues of the Executive Committee, to develop our sport. And first of all, thank you for electing me as President of our federation. And, of course, I will use all my efforts to develop fencing in accordance with my program. As everybody understands, we have a lot of work ahead of us. And of course, next year will be special. First of all, because we will celebrate the centennial of our federation. But again, I want to repeat that we need to continue our work to significantly modify our rules, to make fencing more visible. We have to address some issues in order to succeed. The future cannot be separated from the past, from our glory and famous veterans. For the next four years, I decided to create new funds to support our famous veterans inside the FIE. And one more special request. Everybody knows that I love fencing passionately. But even if I always do everything possible to help my lovely sport, I do not have enough time to perform all my obligations on a full time basis. And because of this I strongly hope to receive your support during the next congress to establish the office of the first Vice-President of the FIE. So I ask you to support this special request. And also for the next four years I believe our most important goal is to receive two additional medals in the programme of the Olympic Games, in recognition of the role of fencing in the Olympic family. Again, this election is a big honour to me. Thank you very much to everybody. Thank you for your trust, support and confidence. Thank you. Applause. 26 And next I will read the address to our congress from the President of the Russian Federation. The President of the Russian Federation welcomes the congress participants of the International Fencing Federation. “I am very pleased that such a meaningful event gathering athletes, coaches, experts, specialists from many countries, is being held in Russia. I see, and I consider that this is a recognition of the high prestige of the Russian school of fencing, its contribution to the strengthening of traditions of this exciting and unique sport. I am confident that your congress which is being held on the eve of the centennial of the International Fencing Federation which will be celebrated next year, will be constructive and thoughtful, will finalise the results of the work that has been done, will define the goals for the future, and will establish stable and responsible bodies of the FIE management. Wishing you every success and all the best.” Vladimir Poutine. Applause. Nathalie Rodriguez: Mister Alexei Vorobiev would like to say a few words. Alisher Usmanov (RUS): Dear delegates, Dear friends, please take your seats for one minute. We have now finished the schedule of our congress and it was very difficult and long for you. I hope it is the last time. I did not want to have any single doubt on the elections and this is why at the Executive Committee meeting, I refused to use electronic voting for the election of the President. And because of this, all other elections had to be done without the electronic voting. But at the next meeting of the Executive Committee, I will propose to change the system and have electronic elections with the help of the computer. Applause Only for the President, we can keep the current system if you wish. Laughing That was first. Second, I want to congratulate all those who were elected to the Executive Committee. Welcome in my team, as President of this Executive Committee, but actually your team, because this is the Executive Committee of the federations. I hope we will achieve new goals, new success. We may find many problems on our road, but I am sure we will win and find new developments for fencing. I expect your future support, as you supported me today. It is for me a honour and a major responsibility to represent all fencers in the world. Thank you very much again. Our program is closed for today. Tomorrow the commissions will meet, at ten o'clock, please. The Executive Committee will meet in the afternoon. I think I will participate in one or two commissions, to give them my view and recommendations. I asked Mister Scarso to participate in several commissions, as Executive Committee member. Of course, the commissions are absolutely independent, they can elect who they want. And one more time, I want to tell you this: It is only the first step to change the image of our 34 federations, to change the image of fencing and have the spectators come back to our competitions. For anyone who loves fencing, this must be the target number one. And thank you again for your confidence to me, thank you again for you support, and welcome to Moscow. I invite everybody to the gala diner to relax. Enjoy the Russian hospitality... Thank you very much. Applause Nathalie Rodriguez: So... A member of the SportAccord Doping-Free Sport division came from Lausanne to assist and teach us how to manage this type of educational project. He brought an FIE banner with the logo Say No! to Doping, for the FIE stand. Members of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency, RUSADA, were instrumental in the event’s success, providing agents, tables, chairs, as well as educational documents in Russian for the many local participants, and an additional laptop so we could offer the WADA quiz (the highlight of the event) to as many fencers as possible. They even offered us small Russian wooden dolls to offer as prizes to the numerous fencers having scored highly on the quiz. The FIE offered 200 wristband USB keys which were very popular. These keys contained many documents distributed to most of the participants, so that fencers from 56 nations returned home with the express intention of sharing the quiz, the educational material and the videos with their fencing community. WADA brochures were also distributed and anti-doping videos were projected, including the WADA video-clip Say No! to Doping, which puts fencing in a very positive light! A daily draw of FIE prizes (the winners chosen among the participants of the day) helped increase the general interest for the awareness program. Fencers and coaches from many countries tried the quiz, and discussed doping problems with the stand personnel. Participation stats: Download 9.53 Kb. Do'stlaringiz bilan baham: |
