CURRENCY AND CREDIT CARDS 
The franc is the currency and legal tender of Switzerland and Liechtenstein. One Swiss Franc 
is subdivided into 100 cents. Coins consist of 5 cents, 10 cents, 20 cents, 50 cents, 1 Swiss 
Franc, 2 Swiss Francs and 5 Swiss Francs. Note denominations are 10 Francs, 20 Francs,  
50 Francs, 100 Francs, 200 Francs and 1’000 Francs.
Current (July 2017) exchange rate: 1 USD = 0.95 Swiss Francs, 1 Euro = 1.11 Swiss Francs. 
Foreign bank notes and traveler’s checks can be converted into Swiss Francs at the hotel, 
foreign exchange banks and other authorized money exchange outlets. The exchange rate 
is subject to market fluctuations. Most major credit cards are accepted in hotels, shops and 
restaurants. VISA and MasterCard are accepted at the congress registration desk. Personal  
or company cheques are not accepted at the registration desk.
