Introduction shakespearean comedies
Buffoonery in Shakespearean ComedyBuffoonery is another feature of Shakespearean comedy. Every single comedy of Shakespeare has got a fool or a clown, who provides humour in the play. Fool is a special kind of character in a typical Shakespearean comedy, who has got the gift of gab. They are witty and they know how to reply a person during an argument. They speak in such a way that they are able to get the better of people. Shakespeare uses them to create fun, humour and laughter in his comedies. They are very much like jokers and jesters, who amuse people through their witty and funny remarks. One of the best purposes of using clowns in comedies is that they act as a messenger and mediator between various characters. We observe in The Merchant of Venice that the clown is used to exchange messages between the lovers, i.e., Lorenzo and Jessica. Thus, we have Feste in Twelfth Nigh, Launcelot in The Merchant of Venice and Touchstone in As You Like It. All of Shakespearean comedies end on a happy note. It is pertinent to mention here that most of the Shakespearean comedies end in marriage. In the end main characters got married to their beloved. In Twelfth Night, you might have observed that Duke Orsino marries Viola and Olivia marries Sebastian. Similarly, The Merchant of Venice also ends on a happy note. Antonio is saved from giving one pound flesh of his body to Shylock. Thus, every Shakespearean comedy ends happily and the issues are resolved. CONCLUSION The course paper is intended for English language students at Pedagogical Universities taking the course of English literature and fully meets the requirements of the programme in the subject. It may also be of interest to all readers, whose command of English is sufficient to analyze the tragedies of William Shakespeare when they find difficulty and who would like to gain some information about the vocabulary resources of Modern English about the literary peculiarities of English prose and poetry, about the complex nature of the word's meaning and the modern methods of its investigation, about nonstandard changes that English underwent in its historical development and about some other aspects of English literature. All Shakespeare’s history tragedies, with the exception of Romeo and Juliet, were written during the reign of Elizabeth. Although their material derives from the English chroniclers Hall and Holinshed they may have been generated in part by a surge of interest in historiography that centred on critical rereadings of Tacitus. It is a moment of politic history that can be located about the time of the composition of Marlowe’s translation of Lucan’s Pharsalia and the publication of Sir Henry Savile’s translation of Tacitus’ Histories in 1591, printed with an epistle that, according to Jonson, was written by the Earl of Essex himself. Marlowe’s translation is significant because Lucan took a very sceptical view of Julius Caesar’s imperial ambitions. Tacitus’ view of history was likewise quizzical and secular: his emperors were, unlike Shakespeare’s monarchs, scarcely possessed of a mystic as well as a natural body, and his great themes were ancient liberty, and what his translator, almost certainly invoking Tamburlaine, called ‘higher aspiring minds’, corruption, and modern servitude. All the aim and tasks of the course paper are done during the research and overview of plans. All the tasks are presented above while writing the plans. We researched methodical literature, scientific articles, recent works of methodology scientist; using such methods as analyzing manuals, textbooks and books, educational magazines, training appliances, newspapers and of course to find out the latest and the most modern information we used internet. While working with such themed course paper, I have acquired a lot of information related my own theme. For example, what kind of special features are exist in tragedies of William Shakespeare could be used in English literature, associated with modern features and their usage with many examples are now completely understandable to me. I also used various theorists` work and their relation to my up-to-date theme. I tried to apply some of the ideas with their appropriate authors, this way I tried to prove every detail of my work. I recommend others to be introduced with this work or this kind of theme, as it is completely interesting and useful. I wish I will my dissertation in this field. Download 38.29 Kb.
