The topic of the course paper is as the following “Self-development in Jack London’s novel “Martin Eden””.
The aim of the work is to analyze the novel and to inform about self-education and self –development in it.
Jack London fought his way up out of the factories and waterfront dives of West Oakland to become the highest paid, most popular novelist and short story writer of his day. He wrote passionately and prolifically about the great questions of life and death, the struggle to survive with dignity and integrity, and he wove these elemental ideas into stories of high adventure based on his own firsthand experiences at sea, or in Alaska, or in the fields and factories of California. As a result, his writing appealed not to the few, but to millions of people all around the world. The structure of Martin Eden can be called symmetrical. It created a sense of specific completeness and of the resolution of the existing problems.

The structure of the work is organized as that it is divided into three parts: Introduction which informs about the work’s aim, topic, the subject, the object and its structure; main part is divided into 2 chapters which are arranged into 2 subgroups in contemporary time. Chapter I gives general information about Jack London as “The jack of old trade”; The life and works of Jack London. Chapter II deals with the information on Martin Eden as the heart of the J. London’s works; Self-development in “Martin Eden” and success of the writer . In conclusion we inform about our final thoughts and future plans after the work. In the last part, in bibliography the list of the used resources and materials are given.
