Adverbs - Many languages (including English) distinguish between adjectives, which qualify nouns and pronouns, and adverbs,
- which mainly modify verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs. Not all languages make this exact distinction; many (including
- English) have words that can function as either. For example, in English, fast is an adjective in "a fast car" (where it qualifies
- the noun car) but an adverb in "he drove fast" (where it modifies the verb drove).
- In Dutch and German, adjectives and adverbs are usually identical in form and many grammarians do not make the distinction,
- but patterns of inflection can suggest a difference:
- Eine kluge neue Idee.
- Eine klug ausgereifte Idee.
- A cleverly developed idea.

- In addition to our exercises, we often walk in the park. There we can read interesting books and discuss different stories. Carl still has a variety of hobbies. He likes to play football, chess, volleyball and tennis. I usually hang out with my friend. But I'm not an athlete like him. I know Carl is my best friend in life. He can always count on my help and support.
- Karl has a wife and two wonderful children. His family is very happy. Karl is the best man in our life, I'm sure. He has everything good and the qualities of being a great person. I love my friend very much.
