It's a famous quote that the more you do the difficult thing, the life will become more easier.
I have tried to do myriad number of difficult things in my lifetime, but doing a COVID-19 duty as a medical officer in my village was the most. Difficult thing I have ever done yet.
I was appointed for three months during peak second wave of pandemic in. A city centre. It was a 24 hour duty.
Me and my other medical staff members were going through difficult time during a fight against coronavirus outbreak. We had to stay away from the family members after the duty hours also.
My family was concerned about me but was very supportive during that time.
I had two via safety gears such as PPE kit and mask which was really annoying and exhausting at the same time.
We had to deal with shortage of oxygen beds, Patients were increasing and we only had limited supply of oxygen and other medicine.
It was an courageous. Task for putting me putting my own life at risk with selfless determination for the sake of saving lives of others.
I experienced gratification of healing patients and saving lives, but also lost many battles along the way. I witnessed many heart wrenching moments.
I was also suffering from emotional stress. It was because of the two reason, the behavior of certain elements in the community towards a doctor and lack of access to essential equipment that should be given to frontline workers.
We will exposing ourselves, but the renumeration for the amount of effort we were putting in was not correct at all.
Did this duty made detrimental effects on my mind? I was suffering from anxiety and different depression afterwards.
Being a duty, it was my duty to make health better for patients and I was. I am very proud of this thing.
