FIRST CHILDREN’S BOOK Fayziyev Baxodir Baxshilloyevich Teacher, Department of English literature, Bukhara State University E-mail: fbahodir@gmail.com Abstract: This article discusses the emergence of English children's literature. A brief look at the life and works of the first children's literature writer. Key words: English children's literature, children, Newbery poems, games, funny stories, 1840s were a turning point in the history of English children's literature. It was to this time that the realization of the cardinal, although now seeming so simple, fact about childhood as a "special state", determined by its socio-psychological characteristics and patterns that require books that specifically meet the needs of children, dates back to this time. Locke's ideas, developed by him decades earlier, begin to take over not only the minds of individual scientists and educators, but also penetrate the consciousness of wider circles, in particular writers, publishers and booksellers. John Newbery (1713-1767), publisher, bookseller, and author credited with the earliest children's books, was the son of a Berkshire farmer. He began his publishing activity in the mid-1930s, acquiring a printing press in Reading. In 1744 he moved to London, where he settled under the sign "The Bible and the Sun" near St. Paul's Cathedral, where he published not only various books and magazines for adults, but also books for children “Newbery was enterprising and a clever publisher who gathered around him numerous authors, among whom were such prominent writers of those years as Smollett and Goldsmith. The latter paid tribute to Newbery in his novel The Wakefield Priest, where he described him as a "kind-hearted traveller" who came to the aid of Dr. Primrose when he lay ill in a roadside inn. Goldsmith describes him as a "philanthropic bookseller" who has written so many little children's books and adds: "He called himself their friend and was a friend of all honors". 1 In 1744, the year of his move to London, Newbery published his first children's book, followed by dozens of others that revolutionized not only the business of books, but also the ideas of what children's literature should be. Most of his "books" Newbery wrote himself; it is also known that Christopher Smart, Giles Jones, the Griffith brothers, and even partly Oliver Goldsmith worked on some of them (Newbury published a number of Goldsmith's works, among them Citizen of the World, Wakefield Priest, Night of Errors, etc., which led to the establishment of complex business and personal relationships). Unfortunately, historians do not have exact data on the share of "participation" of each of the authors in Newbery's children's publications. Newbery's first book was written by himself and was called "A Little Pocket Book". Its full title occupied several lines (we retain the use of the capital letters of the original): "A Little Pocket Book for the Instruction and Amusement of Young Master Tommy and Pretty Miss Polly, to which is attached a pleasant Letter from Jack the Slayer of the Giants, and also A ball and a pincushion, the use of which will certainly make Tommy a good Boy and Polly a good girl. The book is prefaced with a Letter of Education, humbly addressed to all Parents, 248 Guardians, Instructors, &c., outlining the Rules who should make their Children strong, healthy, virtuous, wise and happy..." 2 . In the preface to "The Book" Newbery expounded on Locke's ideas about the upbringing of children, emphasizing the need to introduce an element of the game, which should give excellent results. This purpose is also served by the ball and pincushion attached to the book, painted in red and black. Newbery explains that good deeds should be marked with pins stuck in the red half of the pad, and bad deeds in the black. The book itself contained various poems, games, funny stories, etc., provided with engraved drawings and very loosely combined into a whole. Of course, the book was edifying: virtue triumphed in it, and vice was punished. The reward took quite tangible, material forms: the good boy at the end of the book is sitting in his own carriage drawn by six horses, and the good girl is rewarded with a gold watch. "Newbury, a modern researcher notes on this occasion, "like Richardson, sought to reward virtue materially" 3 . A Little Pocket Book is the first in a series of publications for children undertaken by Newbery in later years. Modern researchers have more than thirty titles. Most of these books are textbook in nature: Newbery makes extensive use of the secular and folklore heritage of the "transitional era" in them, giving the texts a form that, from his point of view, is acceptable for children. He edits texts in an effort to make them more decent, explains incomprehensible places, provides them with edification, inserts excerpts from educational texts, etc. Finally, under a variety of pseudonyms, he writes for children, relying on folklore, literary and pedagogical materials. 1. PROBLEMS OF TRANSLATION OF NATURAL PHENOMENA IN UZBEK LANGUAGE Khamidova Muborak (PhD) Associate Professor of the French Philological Department Annotation. The article focuses on the expression of deopoetonyms in traditional forms and styles in Uzbek, as well as the names of natural phenomena. Their symbolic nature is defined. Keywords: synonymy, homonymy, polysemantic, antonymic, natural phenomena, syntactic units, air, clouds, storm, fog, rainbow, metaphorical expressions. In world onomatology, the weight of research devoted to the study of the lexicon of the French language, including the basics of the origin of deopoetonyms, structural and semantic conditioning, the scope of use in comparison with other languages is growing. As a logical consequence, the comparison of linguistic-stylistic, poetonymic, gender features of the French and Uzbek deopoetonyms in the language lexical-semantic, national-cultural, literary text has gained priority and relevance in the field of linguistics. Indeed, the definition of the semantic and stylistic potential of these units, the interpretation of general and differential motivational aspects of naming within different systematic languages serve to improve the system of representation of deopoetonyms in dictionaries, to determine the laws of functional equivalence and adequacy in the translation process. 263 Гуландом МИРХАНОВА.
