Here's a tip Präpositionen Prepositions are words that indicate a connection between two parts of a sentence. This can be an indication of time, place or reason. Look at the examples below. The words in bold are prepositions. Ich laufe durch den Park. (I'm walking through the park.) Sie trinkt den Tee ohne den Zucker. (She drinks the tea without the sugar.) Er schreibt den Brief für einen Freund. (He's writing the le er for a friend.) Prepositions are always followed by the object of a sentence. The object is the person or thing a ected by the action. Look at the examples with the object highlighted in bold: Siehst du den Mann? (Do you see the man?) Ich habe einen Sohn. (I have a son.) Prepositions determine the grammatical case of the object: in this unit, we will look at the six prepositions that are always followed by an object in the accusative case. We will come back to prepositions with other cases later in the course. The feminine and neutral articles stay the same.
