The transition to digital news consumption has hit the newspaper industry hard in reunt years. Some national publications hawe managed to wether the storm in part bu attracting digital subseribers ,but many local newspaper have bun forced to shutter their doors permanetly especialy during the coronavirus pandemie.
To gain a clarer picture of how locally focused U.S newspapers have fared in the digital age, apew Resrarch Center researchers reexamimed data included in the Center's state of the Nwes Media newspaper fact sheet excluding four publications that reach a large national audience.
