The Independence Day of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Uzbek. O'zbekiston Respublikasi Mustaqilligi kuni) is celebrated in Uzbekistan annually on September 1 in honor of the proclamation of state independence (from the USSR) on August 31, 1991 [1]. In 1991, the August putsch in the capital of the USSR, Moscow, collapsed. Thanks to the initiative of President I. A. Karimov, the independence of Uzbekistan was declared on August 31, 1991. On August 31, 1991, at an extraordinary session of the Supreme Soviet of the Uzbek SSR in Tashkent, a resolution was adopted “On the proclamation of state independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan” and a law “On the foundations of state independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan” [2]. The decree also renamed the Uzbek SSR to the Republic of Uzbekistan [3]. On July 3, 1992, State Law No. 669-XII "On Holidays in the Republic of Uzbekistan" was issued, establishing the dates of celebrated days, including Independence Day. On the basis of the law, amendments were adopted to the Labor Code in force at that time [4]. 3.When is a young democratic republic's birthday? Already on August 31, 1991, it was established that September 1 is the Independence Day of Uzbekistan. In addition, on September 5, by the decree of President I. A. Karimov, the central square of the Uzbek capital, formerly named after V. I. Lenin, was renamed into Mustakillik (Independence) Square [3]. 4. Does each region prepare different holiday programs? Holidays in Uzbekistan are very fond of and they are celebrated cheerfully, without making a distinction between national, public holidays recorded in the calendar and new ones that have recently come from distant countries. With equal joy, the inhabitants of Uzbekistan give each other valentines and painted gingerbread, bake cakes and paint eggs, cook sumalak and khalisa. The people of Uzbekistan are distinguished by their openness, friendliness, the ability to rejoice and share this joy with others.
5. What meals are associated with this holiday? Each country is unique, unrepeatable and has its own flavor and unique features and traditions. In Uzbekistan, for centuries, they have evolved under the powerful influence of various cultures that have formed a unique community of people, the main features of which have always been cosmopolitanism and tolerance, hospitality, understanding of the enduring value and significance of simple human communication, the desire to share joy with others.
