The subjects which make up an educational programme. They are taught differently in different contexts and in
different cultures. See syllabus

►
Declarative form, declarative question
The declarative form refers to the form of a sentence/utterance/clause that is used to make statements and give
information. A declarative question is a question with the grammar of a statement but said with intonation that
shows it is a question.

Decline, refuse an invitation
To say that you will not accept an invitation, e.g. I’m sorry but I can’t.

Deduce meaning from context
To guess the meaning of an unknown word by using the information in a situation and/or around the word to help, e.g.
I drove my van to the town centre and parked it in the central car park. Van must be some kind of vehicle because
you drive it and park it.
