Train
verb
To teach someone to do a particular job or activity. For example, John trains people to sing. It also means to study or
learn to do something. For example, I trained to be a teacher.
Trainee
Someone learning to do a particular job or activity. For example, a trainee teacher is someone learning to be a
teacher.
Trainer
Someone whose job it is to teach people how to do a job. For example, a teacher trainer trains people to become
teachers.

True/false questions
A task-type in which learners read or listen to a text and decide whether statements are correct (true) or not correct
(false).
Turn, turn-taking
When someone speaks in a conversation this is called a turn. Speaking and then allowing another person to speak in
reply is called ‘turn-taking’.
Tutorial
When a teacher talks to a learner individually or to a small group of learners to discuss their learning and give
feedback on their progress in class.

Unvoiced sound
To produce an unvoiced sound, no voice is used, e.g. /p/ in pad, /t/ in tomorrow. No movement or vibration can be felt
