Exercise 3. Read and translate the following sentences paying attention to modal verbs and their equivalents.

Many substances which are readily absorbed by the organism prove to be harmful, and many harm­less substances prove to be difficult for the organism to absorb. 4. Pro­teins are found to be absolutely essential to the proper nourishment of the human body. 5. Vitamin С appears to be lacking in seeds, white bread, fats, yeast, purified proteins and carbohydrates. 6. Vitamin D is known to be the antirachitic substance.
