Nukus is one of the young and vibrant cities of Uzbekistan. The city was built based on the 1936 master plan. According to the new master plan of 1965 (architect A. M. Erkaboyev and engineer T. Z. Ziyoyev), Nukus was divided into rectangular blocks with greenery.On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the city, Nukus was awarded with the Order of "Friendship" (September 11, 2003).[2]
