Car ownership has increased so rapidly over the past thirty years that many cities in the world are now “one big traffic jam”.

How true do you think this statement is?
What measures can government take do discourage people from using their cars?

Nowadays, the number of private cars has grown rapidly over the past three decades and that reason, not only metropolises but also developing cities in the world facing big traffic congestion issue. In my opinion , it is true and thera are some ways for governments to tackle this problem.

In fact, increasing the number of car ownerships lead to traffic jam as a result more and more se are late for their work or home. In addition, emergency responders can be late or unable to arrive at the scene of the disaster on time due to traffic congestion.
One of the main solution to minimize the traffic in cities is to increase to taxes on cars when they entering in cities which automatically reduce the number since it would be more expensive to travel by cars. It will lead to the use of public transportation by the mases so that they who are car ownerships can save their money. In order to that government should improve the conditions of public transportation so that people would prefer to use them in comparison whit personal transport.
In conclusion, increasing car ownership makes the urban areas cramped places which could be reduced by applying city entry charges on private means and improving road infrastructures by higher officials.
