The Pasanaus are perennial growers in La Morera, the highest municipality of

Priorat, with vineyards at over 2,400 feet elevation abutting the sheer rock wall of

the Sierra de Montsant. Gravelly scree eroded from the cliffs covers the underlying

llicorella slate, together with the elevation creating a less Mediterranean

microclimate relative to the region as a whole.

THE WINERY

50% Garnacha, 20% Merlot, 20% Syrah and 10% Mazuelo. Aged 6 months in

French and American barriques. Concentrated and voluptuous ripe fruit is

complemented by strong minerality and wood spice on the nose and finish.

IN THE PRESS

The peppery and fresh 2014 Ceps Nous is a blend of 70% Garnacha, 21% Merlot and 9%

Syrah from young vines produced in a fresh and fruit-driven style. It fermented in stainless

steel and matured in used French oak barrels for some four to six months. It's 15.4% alcohol

but quite juicy and balanced, and the alcohol is not noticeable, although it's clearly not a

shy wine. Very good in its style. There are 25,000 bottles produced, of which half were

bottled in May 2016.

DETAILS OF WINEMAKING & VITICULTURE

Winemaking:

Fermentation of the separate varietals took place between 20 & 26

days and 25-30°C maximum temperature.  The wine was aged 6

months in used oak barrique, 70% French, 20% American, 10%

central European.

Vineyards:

Vines planted after 2000 in La Morera de Montsant. Pasanau Ceps

Nous is produced from recently planted vineyards, in which the

vine still has not completely matured. The cultivation of the vines

emphasizes low production: short pruning, green pruning and

thinning of spurs if necessary.
