  1. 성장 및 교육과정(Personal/Education background)

It was my very first thoughts about languages that would always get stuck in my mind; Why do people speak in different languages? How do they learn it? What is the science behind it? Also, I know one thing for sure that without being able to know at least other foreign languages I could not find the exact answers for the questions in my mind. Therefore, I begun to embark upon a journey of learning English language when I was a teenager.
After I had started learning this language, the very first thing I realized was that the process of language acquisition is inextricably connected to linguistics. The reason behind this was one of my English teachers whose linguistic knowledge was remarkable. Since he knew more broadly about linguistics, he could grasp what was happening in the learners' brain and he always prepared materials knowing exactly what we needed. Owing to this, I decided to pursue and earn my bachelor's degree in English philology and language teaching so that I would be bound to be a highly skillful and well equipped teacher in the future. During my university years, I put into a great deal of work and time developing my skills and English even though most of the time we had to learn in distance because of the pandemic. Nevertheless, during the lockdown, unlike most of my group mates, I did not give up on learning. I purchased and virtually attended several online courses offered by Coursera, Future learn, the British Council and the US embassy. They all helped me so much to improve my professional knowledge. One of these courses was about TESOL. Having finished it online, I finally found what exactly I had been lacking to be the best English teacher. Next, I opened my own English courses for school students in my village where I was lucky enough to apply what I had learned theoretically in practice. The result turned out to be quite excellent. Although all the things I learned through such online courses and at university were not that much, they made my lessons rather interactive and creative.

  1. 지원동기(Purpose of application)

Why do I choose to study in South Korea?
It has now become the time to do my master’s degree in linguistics and teaching English. Given that I had already known about linguistics and teaching English, I made a decision about Dong-A university as this learning hub always looks for those who strive for creativity or leap into the dark. Therefore, I am confident that I can be the one you need in this family. Also, it is one of the most prestigious universities of South Korea. As I mentioned above, I also teach English part time in my village. All the knowledge and skills I acquired theoretically at both university and online courses would not have been enough if I had not added creativity to my lessons, initially. Actually, creating a new way of instructing common knowledge can always attract students' attention even though it, apparently, seems quite dull. So I think this is the place I can take my creativity to the next level. In addition to this, the group of skillful and experienced professors could make me who I want to be. This means that I will be able to develop my skills not only practically, but, more importantly, theoretically also. Moreover, the community of international students from different backgrounds and experiences gives me a great chance to share my skills and knowledge with them. As a result, I can manage to become a better and skillful specialist that my society as well as the whole globe needs. Besides that, the role of Korean language is becoming important in many fields including business, politics and economy of Central Asia, in particular Uzbekistan. The quality of education in Korea is considered more valuable than other Asian countries. Studying Master’s degree there be a good option for my future career due to its increasing significance of the Korean language. Therefore, I have searched and found enough helpful information about Korean education system from websites and my university teachers as well as my close friend, who is studying at a Korean university, have advised me to continue my study in this country. Therefore, I am sure that going on my study in Korea will widen not only my knowledge, also my experience about Korean culture and customs.
In conclusion, I obviously believe that studying at this university not only helps me, but to my society also, because in Uzbekistan, there is a highly increasing demand for English language teachers. Unfortunately, I cannot say all of them are skillful enough to teach this language. Since I live in a village locating far from the city center, the situation is even much worse here. Therefore, if I study at your university, with great experience and knowledge I will gain, I will be of significant benefit to my community’s development.
